bangthebook radio february 8A steady dose of college basketball betting tips came your way on the Thursday February 8 edition of BangTheBook Radio. It’s that time of year and with the NBA limping to the Trade Deadline, college hoops are in the spotlight. Host Adam Burke talked college basketball with pro handicappers Brad Powers and Ralph Michaels to look at overrated and underrated teams, the Mountain West Conference, some free picks, and a whole lot more.

Brad Powers from has made the full transition from football to basketball, but it wouldn’t be a segment with Brad if we didn’t mention a little bit of college football in passing. Some spring practices have already started up, so Brad commented on those and then we got into college basketball.

Today’s discussion centered on some overrated and underrated teams as we look around the country and see a ton of parity. More upsets occurred on Wednesday night, which seems to be the theme of the season. Brad touched on some of those and then the guys previewed Duke vs. North Carolina and Michigan State vs. Purdue as some marquee games this week. A free pick for Thursday night wrapped up the segment.

Ralph Michaels from phoned in as today’s next guest. Adam and Ralph had plenty to talk about, including St. John’s pulling off another upset last night by knocking off Villanova to score the first Big East win of the season. The bigger story may be the injury suffered by a star player for the Mountain West Conference’s best team. With that injury in mind, Adam and Ralph broke down the conference to look for some betting value.

Saint Mary’s looks to sweep the regular season series against Gonzaga this weekend. Those two teams are ticketed for March, but they are probably the only ones in the conference. How should we evaluate that game and how should we use it going forward? Along with a breakdown of that one, Ralph offered up a best bet for Thursday and the same for Saturday.

Join us on Friday for some Conference USA college basketball with Alex Nicolas and a whole lot of NBA with Philip Rossman-Reich from Orlando Magic Daily.
