Host Adam Burke introduced today’s show, the lineup, and said a few words about BangTheBook.com before chatting with our first guest.
Brian Blessing, the host of Sportsbook Radio and Vegas Hockey Hotline, joined us to chat about the NFL Preseason and also about the Wyndham Championship. The guys had a lot to discuss with the preseason, as we’ve seen some huge adjustments to betting totals based on the new helmet hitting rules. Will that have another big impact this week? Adam and Brian addressed those thoughts and Brian also shared some really good betting tips regarding this week’s matchups.
The Wyndham Championship has a pretty weak field, as only two of the top 20 in the Official World Golf Ranking are on hand, but this is the last event before the FedEx Cup playoffs, so there are a lot of betting considerations. Brian talked about some of his favorite picks and some betting angles.
Ralph Michaels from WagerTalk.com joined us to chat about NFLX and an under-the-radar conference in college football. The guys took a deep look at this week’s NFL card, including some of the more interesting games on the docket. They talked about what bettors should watch for in terms of these games, especially with the dress rehearsal on deck next week. Ralph had some sage advice for bettors on teams that got off to slow starts.
The conference in the spotlight today was Conference USA. Florida Atlantic looks like the obvious top dog, but the guys talked about a lot of different teams as well, as they looked at possible regression for North Texas, UAB, and Marshall. Knowing these Group of Five conferences is really going to benefit you as lines tighten up throughout and the season and in the early weeks with non-conference games.
Join us on Wednesday when we chat with Bryan Leonard of WagerTalk.com and hear another edition of The Bettor’s Box with host Adam Burke.
