bangthebook radio november 14There are a lot of great guests in our regular rotation on BangTheBook Radio, but it’s never a bad thing to hear from a couple of different voices. We heard from one familiar voice and one new voice on today’s edition of the show. Philip Rossman-Reich from Orlando Magic Daily returned to talk NBA with us, but we also heard for the first time from BangTheBook futures writer Locky Lockerson to talk college football and college basketball.

Host Adam Burke opened up the show by chatting about the great features and content available over at We’ve got tons of game preview content, our matchup data section, previews for golf, NASCAR, and UFC, power ratings for the NFL and college football, free contests with cash prizes, and so much more. Check out everything that we have to offer.

Also, check out what our friends at DSI Sportsbook have to offer with the BTB25 promo code. With our first guest held up a bit, Adam talked about the NHL betting card for today, talked with listeners about what the GM Meetings and the Winter Meetings mean for MLB futures, and also about why live betting college football is so important at this point in the year.

We opened up today’s show with a little bit of NBA talk with our friend Philip Rossman-Reich of Orlando Magic Daily. It’s been a little while since we’ve had Philip on the show and we’re about 12 or 13 games into the NBA season for each team. The guys talked about some of the early-season overachievers and underachievers to see if we can uncover some betting angles about those teams. Are their starts sustainable? Is there more to it than meets the eye?

They also talked about some of the early surprise teams, including those that appear to be contenders like Minnesota and Denver. The NBA is a league built on perception, so you have to be grading these teams accurately in your mind and that’s what we did on today’s segment with Philip.

Locky Lockerson has been a great addition to our family of writers at BangTheBook, but today marked the first time that we got him on the air. The futures market is Locky’s specialty and that was what we talked about on today’s show. The College Football Playoff rankings will come out tonight and there will be a lot of discussion about who the final four teams could be. The guys took a look at the market and talked about some betting values and also about a two-loss team getting into the mix.

On the college hoops side, Locky talked about some of the different betting strategies and approaches based on the time of year in college basketball. The season can be cut into three different segments and there are different considerations with each step. Along with that, the guys talked about the Champions Classic tonight with Michigan State vs. Duke and Kansas vs. Kentucky as a couple of early-season tests for premier programs.

Will that have any futures impact? What should listeners be looking to do in the futures market? All that and more on Locky’s maiden segment on the show.

Join us on Wednesday when we chat college football, the NBA, and NFL with Bryan Leonard of and Wes Reynolds.
