We’re happy to announce that our daily BangTheBook Radio shows are back! It’s that time of year ladies and gentlemen, as we get ready for another football betting season. Host Adam Burke was happy to be joined by our two regular Monday guests to get things underway with Joe Everett of NFL Draft Bible and Kyle Hunter of HunterSportsPicks.com.
Host Adam Burke opened today’s show with a refresher for everybody a refresher on what you can expect for this season. Aside from this week, you can hear BangTheBook Radio live every day at 11 a.m. ET on our BlogTalkRadio Channel. Links are provided on the @bangthebook Twitter feed and also the @SkatingTripods Twitter feed for our host. After shows are finished, full shows can be accessed at BangTheBook.com in this recap article, on iTunes, and on BlogTalkRadio. Shows will be cut into segments, which are also accessible at BangTheBook.com and on Spreaker. Edited segments will be cleaned up for audio quality and volume, which has been a past complaint for some of our listeners. Ultimately, the best place to get everything is right here at BangTheBook.com, but we try to make it easy for you to get us no matter where you look.
On this edition of the show, we opened things up with Joe Everett, who covers the NFL Draft and prospects for NFL Draft Bible, but also does great fantasy work for Fantistics. We’re going to be playing around with the playback volume of our pre-recorded segments, so our apologies that this segment is a little bit quiet relative to the live portions of the show. Please adjust your volume accordingly and we’ll look to fix this for the future.
Joe will be a weekly guest on Mondays with the “NFL Week in Review and Monday Night Football Preview” segment, but the guys don’t have football to recap or MNF to preview. So, they improvised for this week by talking about some of the new coaching hires and the fits of those coaching staffs.
The Los Angeles Chargers, Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Los Angeles Rams all got some airtime during this segment, as we’ll save Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers for next week’s show. How are the players going to fit schematically? Are these teams to believe in for the 2017 season? Joe gave his assessments and the guys talked about the win total lines for these teams.
Joe has made some futures plays in the NFL, with some win total picks, division futures, and a Super Bowl future, so he took the time to discuss those with Adam on the show and break down his thoughts on why he likes or dislikes those respective teams.

Kyle Hunter of HunterSportsPicks.com joined us as we transitioned over to the college side of things. Setting up power ratings is a starting point for all handicappers, so the guys talked about their power ratings and how they got to their conclusions about teams. Conference specialization is a big deal on this show, so Kyle talked about Conference USA and the Sun Belt as two conferences that he has focused on a lot throughout the prep period.
Kyle pulled an example from the Sun Belt to talk about how he set up his power rating for that team and what it means going forward from a season win total standpoint. It is a very good team to talk about because a lot of teams have trouble sustaining success in college athletics unless they can reload instead of rebuild.
Finally, the guys talked about how the NFL market differs from the college football market and about how to handicap the NFL preseason.
Join us on Tuesday when professional handicapper and bettor Bryan Leonard joins us to talk college football and the NFL and host Adam Burke takes a look at Tuesday’s Major League Baseball card and updates us on the happenings around the league.
Follow Adam on Twitter (@SkatingTripods) and also be sure that you follow @BangTheBook on Twitter. The top comments, questions, and suggestions will be mentioned on the show and every Tweet sent to either handle will get a response.
