Bang the Book: College Basketball Rankings 2/18/13

Basketball Rankings

March is just a few weeks away and teams are gearing up for a strong finish to the month of February. Teams are primed for conference tournaments and looking forward to getting a high seeding in the NCAA Tournament. Each week here at Bang The Book we break down our own top five college basketball rankings showcasing the best teams in college hoops.

Indiana Hoosiers

The Hoosiers have proved time and time again this season that they are one of the best teams in the country. Will Sheehey scored a career-high 22 points and Cody Zeller had 19 as Indiana crushed Purdue. Although Purdue is not a stellar team, the win proved that the Hoosiers are playing for keeps.

Miami Hurricanes

With Duke losing to lowly Maryland, the door was left wide open for fast rising Miami. The Hurricanes showed some poise by holding on for a tough road win against Clemson. Still undefeated in conference, Miami will fight for the top spot in the country.

Michigan State Spartans

Tom Izzo always finds a way to get his team to play great basketball at the end of the season. With big wins over Michigan and Nebraska, the Spartans are moving on up. A big game against the Hoosiers highlights a tough stretch of schedule where the Spartans play four ranked teams in the last five games.

Gonzaga Bulldogs

Coach Mark Few has done it again. Gonzaga is one again a threat to go far in the tournament. With big wins over St. Mary’s and a follow up over San Francisco, it is easy to see that the Bulldogs will be in the top five for the rest of the season.

Florida Gators

The Gators have rebounded after the loss to the Razorbacks and they are back on track. They are one of the best teams in the country and they dominate every opponent by double digits. A season-high 15 3-pointers against Auburn shows that this team is deadly from behind the arc.
