The 2022 MLB season goes on Monday, May 30, with 13 games on the schedule, including the AL East showdown at Fenway Park in Boston, so we have prepared the best Orioles vs. Red Sox betting pick and odds.

The Sawx open as -150 home favorites on BetOnline Sportsbook. The Orioles are listed as +139 moneyline underdogs with a total of 10.0 runs.

The O’s are battling bravely against the red-hot Red Sox

After overcoming a six-run deficit in a 12-8 victory over the Sawx this past Friday, the Baltimore Orioles split Saturday’s doubleheader at Fenway Park. They lost 5-3 in the first game of the day and bounced back with a 4-2 victory in the second to improve to 20-28 on the season.

Sunday’s clash has been excluded from the analysis, and the O’s were looking to clinch a rare five-game set against the Red Sox, who have eight of their previous 11 contests. Baltimore, on the other side, has gone 6-4 in its previous ten.

Tyler Wells will take the mound Monday and meet Boston for the first time this season. The 27-year-old righty is 1-4 with a 4.30 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in nine starts (37.2 innings) in 2022. He was charged for a loss in a 2-0 defeat at the Yankees this past Wednesday, allowing a couple of earned runs on five hits across five frames of work.

The Red Sox are killing it at the plate

The Boston Red Sox’s offense got off to an ice-cold start to the season, but over the last couple of weeks, they are slashing .311/.371/.540 with a whopping 44 extra-base hits and 24 home runs in 515 at-bats.

JD Martinez has 18 hits and seven walks through his last 40 plate appearances, while Rafael Devers has 16 hits and three round-tripper in his previous 37 at-bats. The problems for the Red Sox are on the other side of the ball, as their pitching staff has recorded a 4.61 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and .239 batting average against over the last two weeks.

Rich Hill will take the hill Monday and meet the O’s for the second time this season. The 42-year-old southpaw took a no-decision in a 3-1 victory at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on April 29, allowing just a hit through four scoreless frames. Hill is 1-2 with a serviceable 3.86 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in eight starts (35 innings) in 2022.

Trends:

Baltimore:

  • 2-7 in the last nine road games against the Red Sox

Boston:

  • 8-3 in the last 11 games overall
  • 6-2 in the last eight games at home

Baltimore Orioles vs. Boston Red Sox Pick

The current Red Sox have only four hits in 23 at-bats against Tyler Wells, but three went yard. Boston’s offense has gone bananas as of late, and I’m expecting another strong display when they take on Wells. The Sawx are hitting .258/.313/.417 against the right-handed pitchers this season, while Tyler Wells has recorded a pedestrian 5.27 ERA over his last three starts.

Rich Hill hasn’t impressed either, but Boston’s offense should make the difference. Baltimore’s bullpen will have a tall task at the end of an exhausting series after posting a shiny 1.88 ERA over the last ten days of action.

Pick: Take Boston Red Sox at -150

The Total:

Boston’s relievers have had ups and downs so far this season. They’ve registered a solid 3.12 ERA and 3.57 FIP in the last ten days to go with a thumping five wins. On the other side, the Orioles’ bullpen is overperforming and should slow down a bit, so I would go with the over on the totals.

Anyway, the line is a tricky one at exactly ten runs, as the Red Sox have been scoring almost at will lately. My best Orioles vs. Red Sox betting pick remains Boston to win.

Pick: Go over 10.0 runs at -105
