A Pac 12 match-up will finish off college basketball betting action on Wednesday night when the Oregon State Beavers play host to the Arizona Wildcats at 11:00 ET on Fox Sports 1 inside Gill Coliseum.
The Wildcats clinched the Pac 12 regular season championship on Sunday with a 79-66 win over the Stanford Cardinal. Arizona’s leading man F Aaron Gordon had a double-double with 19 points and 15 rebounds in the win. Gordon averages 12.2 points and 8.0 boards per game this season. Four of the Wildcats five starters scored in double figures as they ran their conference record to 14-2 SU with two games to go. Now the fight in this team is for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament as they look forward to a conference tournament next week that will make or break their chances to get a top seed in the big dance. The Wildcats leading scorer is G Nick Johnson he averages 16.0 points and 2.8 assists per game. Johnson had 11 points and four assists in Sunday’s game that was Arizona’s fourth straight win. The Wildcats are 7-2 SU on the road this season and have won their last two games away from Tucson. If they are to have a chance to win it all this team will ride a No. 5 ranked defense that allows just 58.2 points per game.
The Beavers played tough as 14 point underdogs at the UCLA Bruins on Sunday before falling 74-69 in the end. They got 23 points, five boards, and five assists from G Roberto Nelson in the loss. Nelson averages 20.6 points and 3.7 assists per game this season. Oregon State F Devon Collier added 15 points and four rebounds Sunday. If the Beavers have a chance in this game, it will need big games out of both Nelson and Collier. The Beavers are 11-3 SU on their home floor this season, but they were dominated 86-62 by the Washington Huskies in their last home game. With a couple wins and some help this team could climb as high as fourth in the conference tournament as they currently sit third from the bottom in the standings at 7-9 SU in conference play. The last time Oregon State saw Arizona it wasn’t a pretty night back on February 9th as it took a 76-54 loss at the McKale Center. Collier and Nelson scored just 10 apiece as the Beavers offense came to a screeching halt against the Wildcats suffocating defense.
The Wildcats are the clear favorite in this game and for a very good reason. They are a solid 6-3 ATS away from home and are fully capable of repeating the beating they gave the Beavers last time. We expect to see Arizona’s defense shut Oregon State down once again and take home a quality road win. It will be a closer game this time, but look for the Wildcats to come out of Eugene with a victory. Arizona 71 – Oregon State 61
