The American Eagles will be at Christl Arena to take on the Army Black Knights in a Patriot League matchup. The game starts at 12:00 pm ET on Sunday, Jan. 17 and will air on CCS.
The Black Knights were beaten by Colgate 80-66 on Wednesday. Larry Toomey finished with 12 points to lead the team. The Eagles, meanwhile, are coming off a 61-50 loss at the hands of Boston University on Wednesday. James Washington had a game-high 15 points.
This game should be a battle of contrasting styles. The Black Knights (ranked ninth in the nation in possessions per game) prefer a fast-breaking style of play, while the Eagles (351st) are more half-court oriented.
Army is a considerable 16-point favorite at home and the Over/Under (O/U) for this matchup is 134 points.

The Black Knights are a disappointment Against The Spread (ATS) with a 0-1 record, while sporting an 11-6 Straight Up (SU) record. Army has an edge in the rebounding department for this game, where it racks up an average of 41.0 rebounds per game. Turning to the defensive side, the Black Knights have limited opponents’ efforts from beyond the arc, allowing 5.0 three-pointers made per game.
On the other side, the Eagles are a terrible bet ATS with a winless record of 0-1 to go along with a 2-14 SU record. Recently, opponents have figured out how to slow down American. Over the past 10 matchups, American has not been able to cover any of its spreads (0-1 ATS).
Army and American will be facing off in their first head-to-head clash of the season. When they last met the Black Knights were winners, evening up the two teams’ head-to-head record over their most recent games (5-5). However, Army leads the matchup ATS with a record of 2-1. Army had the advantage in three key areas (field goals, rebounds, and three-pointers) once over the last five matchups. American has never had the edge in all three categories.
Predictions: SU Winner – Army, ATS Winner – Army, O/U – Over

On average, Army attempts 27.0 three pointers and American attempts 18.0. In games where they have 20 or more three point attempts, the Army Black Knights have a 9-6 record while the American Eagles have a losing 2-5 record.
