The Baylor Bears are off their best win of the season as they had to make an incredible comeback to beat the TCU Horned Frogs and remain unbeaten as a front runner for the college football playoffs. They will have little time to bask in the glory as they get ready for a matchup against the West Virginia Mountaineers.
The Bears biggest hurdle heading into this game with the Mountaineers might just be the letdown factor. The come from behind win against the Horned Frogs could easily be the biggest game of the season and perhaps even the history of the football program. Bears quarterback Bryce Petty made a very strong case for the Heisman with the come from behind win which included a 24 point fourth quarter.
The Baylor offense is one of the best in the country and it showed against a very good defense. Baylor scored 60 points for an FBS-high ninth time since the start of last season. However, it was the Bears first 60-point game during that time frame against a team in the top-40 of defensive effectiveness. This kind of output is not surprising but against the defense of the caliber of the Frogs it deserves high praise.
The Mountaineers were obviously looking ahead to this matchup. They played the Texas Tech Red Raiders and looked flat in the first half. They too needed a late comeback to get the victory. They rallied from 14 points down to kick a 55 yard field goal to get the big win. The Mountaineers played tough against Alabama earlier in the season and could be a tough team to take down.
The latest college football betting trends for this Big 12 matchup have many angles that need to be considered before betting on this big game. The Bears are 20-8-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 29 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game, 21-6-1 ATS in their last 28 games after scoring more than 40 points in their previous game and 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 conference games. The Mountaineers are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games after allowing more than 450 total yards in their previous game and 5-16 ATS in their last 21 home games when playing against a team with a winning road record.
