Conference USA looks to be pretty wide open and the sportsbooks agree, as there are seven teams at 10-to-1 odds or less to win the conference and the lowest-priced team, Florida Atlantic, is at +310, while the top team in the West, North Texas, is at No. 2 in the conference odds at +400.
The Mean Green should have one the best offenses in the conference, with quarterback Mason Fine returning, but the North Texas defense isn’t exactly one that will cause headaches for opposing offensive coordinators.
We’ll take a look at the odds at 5Dimes as of July 27.
Odds to Win the 2019 Conference USA Championship
|Middle Tennessee State||+2200|
There are some decent odds on a few good teams and you can probably make a case for the top five or six teams in Conference USA, so if you have a strong opinion you can get yourself a nice price. I’m not entirely sold on Florida Atlantic, as they could have a tougher time coming out of their division than North Texas, although the Owls could also catch a few breaks this season, which seemed to elude them last year. Still, if I absolutely had to play a team to win the conference, would go with North Texas, and hope they can reach the championship game and wager accordingly.
Odds to Win Conference USA East Division
Oddsmakers are expecting a three-team battle for the East and it’s hard to argue with that assessment, as FAU, FIU, and Marshall look to be the top teams in the division and Marshall could be worth a play here, as you can’t discount what the Thundering Herd have done over the years. A well-coached team, Marshall is strong up front on both offense and defense and that’s never a bad thing in college football.
Odds to Win Conference USA West Division
A four-team battle is expected here and while I think North Texas has the talent to get the job done, not really enamored with those +155 odds. Of the remaining three teams, Louisiana Tech probably offers the best value, although they have some big shoes to fill on the defensive side of things.
