NFL Betting Trends- 2012 NFC Win Totals

The start of the 2012 NFL regular season is still over two and half months away, but a few sportbooks have already released their projected win totals for all 32 teams. This week, NFL Betting Trends will take a look at the projected total for each of the 16 teams in the NFC along with a prediction on the ‘over/under’.

Green Bay Packers – 12

All the pieces are pretty much in place from last year’s team that went 15-1 in the regular season. The Packers’ bitter loss to New York in the playoffs will serve as motivation all season long to drive this team to at least 13 wins and another NFC North Division title- OVER

Philadelphia Eagles -10.5

The disappointment of last season’s 8-8 debacle combined with the fact that the Eagles, under head coach Andy Reid, have yet to post back-to-back non-winning seasons will drive this team to an 11+ win total in 2012- OVER

San Francisco 49ers -9.5

The pressure will be on San Francisco to duplicate last season’s 13-3 record and run the NFC Championship Game, but the 49ers’ defense is more than capable of leading this team to at least 10 wins-OVER

New Orleans Saints 9.5

It is hard to measure what kind of impact of all the off-field turmoil will have on the Saints’ on-field performance this season, but you have to believe it will not be good. Look for New Orleans to take a step backwards this season- UNDER

Chicago Bears 9

Chicago is due for a rebound this season after winning just eight games in 2011 following an 11-5 record in 2010. Quarterback Jay Cutler is still wildcard in this whole picture, but there is enough talent surrounding him to win nine games- PUSH

Atlanta Falcons 9

Atlanta has won nine or more games in its last four seasons and has a clear path to the NFC South title heading into this season. The Falcons’ ability to win at home (19-5 over the past three seasons) should be enough to generate more than nine overall victories-OVER

Detroit Lions 9

While there are a ton of experts jumping on Detroit’s bandwagon for this season after last year’s 10-6 record and playoff appearance, off-field player issues are already starting to chip away at this success. The Lions are just one of those teams that cannot stand success-UNDER

Dallas Cowboys 8.5

Even the die-hard Cowboy fans have to be a bit nervous about this season. There have been some minor improvements on both sides of the ball but not enough to make you believe that this is the year it all comes together for one of the most overrated teams in the NFL- UNDER

New York Giants 8.5

The Super Bowl hangover affect is driving the Giants’ win total number down. They still have a solid defense and Eli Manning behind center which should be good enough to win at least nine games-OVER

Carolina Panthers 7.5

The time to get on Carolina’s bandwagon could be now even though it is already starting to get pretty crowded. The big question for this team is can quarterback Cam Newton turn all that talent into victories on the field? With a stronger supporting cast he should be able to do it at least eight times this season- OVER

Seattle Seahawks -7

Seattle still has some major issues at quarterback and on the defensive side of the ball. The Seahawks went 7-9 the past two seasons and there is nothing different about this team to convince you things will be any different this year-PUSH

Arizona Cardinals 6.5

Arizona squeezed-out eight wins last season when most experts thought they would only win four or five games. Look for quarterback Kevin Kolb to finally live-up to all the expectations with a very productive year-OVER

Minnesota Vikings   6

The rebuilding process in Minnesota is going well and the Vikings should definitely improve upon last season’s 3-13 campaign. However, do not expect any miracles from a team whose only legitimate star, Adrian Peterson, is coming off knee surgery-UNDER

Washington Redskins 6

The Robert Griffin III era gets underway in Washington, but the second overall pick in the draft still does not have anyone to throw or hand the ball off to and will have to contend with an offensive line that still has a few major holes-UNDER

St. Louis Rams 5.5

The Rams were one of those up-and-coming teams in 2011 but were devastated by early losses and mounting injuries that resulted in just two wins. The key to contending in the NFC West will be a solid season by quarterback Sam Bradford, but there is still enough talent on this team to win at least six games-OVER

Tampa Bay Buccaneers 5

Tampa Bay went in the complete opposite direction last season with a 10-game losing streak but it is still just one year removed from a 10-win season. The Buccaneers are not going to turn things around overnight but they are good enough to win more than five games-OVER
