Rakeem Cato sliced and diced the Golden Hurricane defense for 456 yards as Marshall handed Tulsa a 45-34 defeat on Thursday at Chapman Stadium.

Bettors who backed the Thundering Herd were disappointed, as they failed to cover the closing number of 13.5. Over-Under bettors saw the total score go OVER the closing total of 63.5.

Steward Butler rushed for 75 yards, while Essray Taliaferro added 68 yards in the win. Devon Smith and Tommy Shuler added 114 and 105 receiving yards respectively.

Trey Watts rushed for 169 yards for Tulsa, while Ja'Terian Douglas added 18 yards. Dane Evans threw for 161 yards for the Golden Hurricane, while receivers Thomas Roberson and Jordan James had 58 and 37 yards respectively.

Tulsa lost the offensive yardage battle to Marshall 619-345 yards in Thursday's game. Marshall had more first downs as that total ended up 32-20.

The time of possession battle favored Marshall as their offense was on the field for 31:44, longer than the 28:16 of their opponents.

Marshall heads into a Week 13 battle against Florida International. Tulsa, meanwhile, will have their next action against Louisiana Tech.
