Marshall won 48-10 on Saturday against Florida International behind a 137-yard receiving performance from Gator Hoskins at FIU Stadium.
Marshall won and also put money in the pockets of their supporters by covering the 32.5-point spread as favorites. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 56.5.
Rakeem Cato completed 15 of 31 pass attempts for 241 yards for the Thundering Herd in the win. He did not throw an interception in the game.
Lamarq Caldwell rushed for 56 yards for Florida International, while Silas Spearman added 40 yards. E.J. Hilliard threw for 167 yards for the Golden Panthers, while receivers Jonnu Smith and Dominique Rhymes had 46 and 37 yards respectively.
Florida International lost the offensive yardage battle to Marshall 558-262 yards in Saturday's game. Marshall had more first downs as that total ended up 25-15.
Marshall lost the time of possession battle 38:46/21:14, leaving their defense on the field more than they wanted.
Marshall looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against East Carolina. Florida International will aim to get back on the winning track at Florida Atlantic.
