Blake Bortles sliced and diced the Owls defense for 404 yards as Central Florida handed Temple a 39-36 defeat on Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field.
Central Florida did not, however, defeat the Owls against the spread, which closed at 17.5 at most sportsbooks. Totals bettors, meanwhile, saw the game go OVER the closing number of 57.5.
Storm Johnson rushed for 122 yards, while Blake Bortles added 63 yards in the win. J.J. Worton and Rannell Hall added 179 and 159 receiving yards respectively.
Kenneth Harper rushed for 77 yards for Temple, while P.J. Walker added 41 yards. P.J. Walker threw for 382 yards for the Owls, while receivers Robbie Anderson and Jalen Fitzpatrick had 184 and 52 yards respectively.
Temple lost the offensive yardage battle to Central Florida 657-518 yards in Saturday's game. Central Florida had more first downs as that total ended up 28-22.
The time of possession battle favored Central Florida as their offense was on the field for 33:34, longer than the 26:26 of their opponents.
Central Florida looks to continue their winning ways next game with a battle against Rutgers. Temple will aim to get back on the winning track vs Connecticut.
