Taking ML Lakers on this one.
This is actually one of the games that matter on tonight's card.
Regardless of what happens to the Utah and Memphis game...
The lakers have a different goal now, and it is not only to make the playoffs, but to also claim the 7th seed to face a banged up spurs team instead of the young and heated thunder. They match up better with the spurs. The Rockets have set themselves up in danger with a loss in Phoenix two nights ago, and it has left the door open for the Lakers.
The loss of kobe has been a big loss to them moving forward to the playoffs, but i have no doubt that the team will be as competitive without him. They have another superstar in Dwight Howard in the block, and regardless of his poor overall contributions this season for the lakers, he has developed a new characther and matured in different aspects. It is his turn to turn this team to a contender, at least for the rest of this season, and i believe in him.
"Sometimes plan B is stronger than plan A" and i believe so with kobe out. From what i seen last game, there is no doubt that he is capable of it, and i think he will continue to dominate alongside with Pau inside. I think this team just went from average to solid.
Kobe is one of the greatest players to ever play the game, and I am not going against that, but what i am referring to for the lakers moving forward, and what they can grow to be in these playoffs.
Lets face it, kobe demanded the ball a lot, and he definitely has the knack of getting it done, but now the team has opportunity for every single individual teammate to get a feel for the ball, while at the same time revolving their play around their dominant big men who are both all-star caliber.
With kobe out now, and the impact it made on the team, regardless of what happens in Memphis for Utah, this team is out there playing for their big bro with their heads up high. Ever since Kobe has been out, Lakers have grown closer as a team, making visits to his house, developing excitement for tonight and strategizing for the game (as seen through social networking sources), and are going to go out there and give it their best regardless of the circumstance. They have the biggest fan base out in LA, and with a sold out game tonight for the last game of the season, there is a lot of pride and loyalty to play for.
