I don't think the trash talk makes much difference. Liking Detroit as a small home favorite too. Verlander is sharp at home. He should able to keep the them in the game 'till late innings.
I've always liked Verlander at home as well. Detroit is 0-4 with the last four Verlander starts against the Yanks but I like their momentum and feel more confident in Verlander overcoming his negative stat than David Price overcoming against the Rangers.
Valverde better watches what he wishes for. You are supposed to be the league's top closer this season not someone who can predict the future for your team and run the risk of being a jinx or a goat. For someone that brings a soap opera with his 9th inning antics the last 2 games has made it relatively interesting for his club, ala Papelbon. The Tigers better hope they could close it out tonight with Porcello against Burnett otherwise a trip back to the Bronx may prove costly.
