Welcome to the documented first 5 innings plays sincerely capped by yours truly! This has been a relative success averaging around 60% over the last 4 years, and is a totals first half appetizer to one or perhaps several games I feel have a good chance to either eclipse the total or even be good enough for a side! Hope everyone here enjoys another fun filled season of these plays! Please note that I will not have a selection every night, but I have been successful enough to release approximately 60 or 70 of these if the matchups are favorable!
Colorado/Milwaukee over 4.5 -110:
We all know how shaky Milwaukee's starting pitching can be since their rotation has fluctuated given the adjustments of some of their starters joining on elsewhere. However given their versatile offense in the lineup combined with the hitters confines of Miller Park, you can never feel any lead is really safe. It was a rough year for Colorado in 2012, but given the offseason progress of Jorge De La Rosa (0-2, 9.82 ERA), who appears to have completely recovered from undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2011, any lasting impression will be well worth the shortened campaign. He made three starts late last season, but during the spring remained healthy and the Rockies may have a chance to see their one time 16 game winner return to true form. However, this will be his first appearance at Miller Park in 2.5 years where he is just 1-2 with a 9.82 ERA in his career. Facing the likes of Rickie Weeks, Ryan Braun and Aramis Ramirez could spell trouble.
Milwaukee will counter with Marco Estrada. Estrada showed some signs toward the middle part of the campaign and was a viable fill for Zack Greinke earning the #2 spot in the rotation. Estrada ended up with a 5-7 mark amidst not much run support as evident by his 3.64 ERA. He struck out better than one batter per inning in 2012 but will have a tall order retiring the more dangerous part of the Colorado lineup in Troy Tulowitzki, Carlos Gonzalez and Dexter Fowler who in addition to his lightning speed showed some pop in his bat from the leadoff spot.
We get a nice price in this spot, and both pitchers could be vulnerable early on given the fact that yesterday's starters went fairly deep with the outcome decided by the bullpens. Let's hope we can kick off 2013 on the positive side on the road to some further success! Best of luck however you play!
