RAVENS DEAL ANQUAN BOLDIN TO 49ERS

Ravens trade Anquan Boldin to 49ers for sixth-round pick

by Will Brinson cbssportsline.com

The Ravens wanted wide receiver Anquan Boldin to take a pay cut so they could keep him in 2013. Boldin had zero interest in taking less money ... so the Ravens traded him.

CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora confirms the Ravens sent Boldin packing to, of all places, San Francisco. In exchange, the 49ers send Baltimore their sixth-round pick in 2013. Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun first reported the news.

That might seem like a pittance, but it's impressive the Ravens were able to get anything for Boldin; he wasn't taking less money, which meant they would be forced to cut him if they couldn't make the deal.

As for the 49ers, well, they got to see first hand what Boldin is still capable of doing. Boldin caught six passes for 104 yards and a touchdown against San Francisco in the Super Bowl.

A couple things here.

One, the fact that the 49ers went out and dealt for a wideout immediately after the Seahawks did the same thing is awesome. There is nothing better in football than a good old fashioned arms race between divisional rivals.

Two, the Harbaughs just executed a trade! Sure, it was actually Trent Baalke and Ozzie Newsome who did the deal, but we can dream about the brothers calling each other and making a deal, right?

just heard this and was going to post about it... everyone I follow on Twitter is going huh? they did what?

I guess that's part of the fall out for the big contract for the quarterback...

Flacco certainly wouldn't have had the postseason he did without some of those great catches...

Boldin played great down stretch last year no doubt about it but i see this as less of a "wow what" kind of move honestly. Boldin is getting to the back end of his nfl days bout to hit 33 and may have a decent couple seasons left in him but gotta think his better numbers and production are behind him and the injury bug etc are gonna start to creep in here sooner or later.
