AP-Now batting for New Jersey, the fate of the online gaming bill to be decided today by Governor Christie.
In the on-deck circle, the sports betting lawsuit.
Somewhat lost in the online gaming frenzy is the fact that Friday is the deadline for New Jersey to respond to the issues raised last week by the Department of Justice, an intervenor in the landmark sports betting case:
The plaintiffs – the NCAA, NFL, and three other pro sports leagues – also have until Friday to post their own response. Same goes for the intervenors on the defense side – the state Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association and state Senate President Stephen Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver. The latter two are the least likely to respond, however.
Oral arguments in Trenton will be heard this Thursday.
Meanwhile, word is that California is looking to get going on its own sports betting bill.
