Live tree or artificial?

OK so it's Christmas eve and all we have sports-wise is a bowl game later tonight we have to have something to chat about...lol

Always had a live tree since I can remember...when I was growing up my parents would even get one with the full root ball and we replanted them in the yard every year...by the time I went to college the first ones were probably 25 feet tall...

I don't have one at my house, much to the chagrin of all my friends, but I help the folks put up a live one every year. Our tradition is to have breakfast and head on over to the "Wisconsin Bar" on the north side of Chicago(we are Madison transplants) where a couple of brothers come down to sell trees. We get pretty sloshed on beer and glug, even buy the brothers a few. By the time we get the tree home and put it up we aren't sure if its us that is leaning or the tree. One of my family's favorite traditions.

I always had live ones growing up and for years after that - I love the smell of a live tree! But... With traveling to Ark every year to have Christmas at the lake, I am not there long enough to put one up and enjoy it and I don't want to come back to Baton Rouge after New Years and have to mess with taking down a tree that I wasn't even home to enjoy-so now I just enjoy my families trees and I put out a small 2 foot artificial that my mom made me years ago! (She made one for herself as well so I have hers and put one out at each home and then back in the closet after the holidays)

For the most part when I was younger my parents would get a real tree every year. Especially when I knew the gifts were ready to open on Christmas morning with the milk and cookies, letter to Santa, egg nog etc. Although the tradition and good spirits of Christmas will always be around me and the family I still have the large 5 and 6 foot tree with the train set rolling around it but a but easier to assemble and keepsake once a year.
