Griffin III was nearly perfect in Week 11 versus the Eagles, completing 14-of-15 passes for 200 yards (13.3 YPA), 4 TD and 0 INT. He has also been unbelievable on the road in his rookie campaign, completing 67% of his passes for 1,588 yards (265 YPG), 10 TD and 3 INT, while rushing for another 286 yards (5.7 YPC) and three scores.
Line moves: Total opened 40.5, now 39.
Sharp says: "These teams played to a 13-6 field goal game in the last meeting. But not only are these divisional rivals, but it was on a Thursday night. Those games have trended to the under, teams scale back their game plans and playbooks. That helped the game go under. These teams have been going over lately, and with Colin Kaepernick, San Fran has gone over five of the last six and six of last seven. I do like the over, but if I was just a bettor sitting at home I would put a little on over before it started then I would watch pace of game.
"This is perfect for a live betting situation so you can see how things go, and you can adjust if the coaches tighten things up as the game goes on. When a team played on Thursday earlier in the season and then meet again on a low total below 42, the over is a perfect 7-0 for teams that are winning more than 35 percent. It's massively trending toward the over."
There was a tie for the top consensus selection in Week 16 of the LVH SuperContest, with the Bengals and Seahawks each being picked by 232 contestants. The Bengals (+4) play at Pittsburgh and the Seahawks (PK) are at home against the 49ers.
Spread: Panthers minus-8.5
Public consensus pick: 63 percent picked Panthers
Public perception: It's surprising seeing the Panthers getting so much support, especially laying this many points, but they are playing the Raiders, who -- despite last week's 15-0 win over the Chiefs -- are still only 4-10 against the spread.
Wiseguys' view: This is going to be one of the most popular teaser games this week with sharp bettors taking the Panthers through the key numbers of 3 and 7. Other favorites they'll hook them up with will be the Colts and Texans (Saints, Ravens and Chargers for underdog teasers).
Tuley's Take: The Raiders have burned me several times, but there's no way the Panthers should be laying this many points against anyone. Yes, they beat the Falcons and Chargers the last two weeks, but don't forget they lost to the Chiefs team that the Raiders just manhandled. The pick: Raiders.
