A few random thoughts while hanging at Disney and Universal this week.....

13) ESPN.com's Todd McShay did a mock NFL draft; his first six players were all linemen. In other words, not a very strong draft.

12) Top QB will either be West Virginia's Geno Smith or Matt Barkley of USC, who lost a lot of money by staying in school this year.

11) Oklahoma State booster T. Boone Pickens bought the last 4,000 tickets to Cowboys' December 31 game with Gonzaga, then had school give them away on a first-come, first-serve basis. Tickets were gone in 90 minutes.

10) Kevin Youkilis is the 52nd big league All-Star who will play for both the Red Sox and Bronx Bombers. Eight members of the '04 Red Sox later went on to play in the Bronx; thats a little weird.

9) Michigan beat Binghamton Tuesday night, committing only four fouls the whole game.

8) Kurt Warner has a new reality show on USA Network starting in April, where he gives nine every-day people the chance to pursue the career of their dreams. Don't think any of the nine chose bagging groceries.

7) Skip Holtz is new football coach at Louisiana Tech; not sure why South Florida pulled the plug so fast on him, but I think he's a good coach and will do well at Tech.

6) One of the cool things about college sports is how some schools are powers in one sport, and doormats in others. Duke-Kentucky-UNLV are dreadful in football, but always win in hoops. Nebraska-Penn State-Virginia Tech are perennial top 20 football teams, but struggle in basketball.

5) Duke lost its last four games, finished 6-6, but is still going to a bowl game; will they bring any fans to Charlotte with them?

4) 11 of 13 NBA games Wednesday were decided by 7 or less points. Just an excellent night of entertainment.

3) Jay Cutler has a sprained MCL, should still start against the Packers Sunday, but more and more, the Bears seem like a sinking ship.

2) Wichita State lost 69-60 at Tennessee, its first loss this season, to a team that scored 36-38 points in its last two games.

1) Honest question: If you owned an NFL team that needed a QB, say you're the Arizona Cardinals, would you make a move for Michael Vick?

Bo Knows The Spooky Express

For all the crap that Bill Simmons gets on the internet (and almost all of it is justified…I mean, seriously, no one wants to read 10,000 words about some pointless milestone that a Colorado rapist hit last week—that same guy couldn’t even beat the Cavs the other night!), the one great thing that he did give us were the 30 For 30 documentaries. I love these. I think that most of them are terrific. The most recent one about Bo Jackson had me smiling for almost the entire 90 minutes.

I’m not sure if we’ve ever properly discussed Bo Jackson around here, but I can honestly say that that guy was almost everyone’s favorite athlete not affiliated with his own team. Who didn’t love Bo Jackson? The guy was probably the greatest overall athlete of the last—I don’t know—50 years or so. I thought that the documentary was great. Here are some of my favorite things about this past Saturday’s documentary (and other stuff you might not know about Bo):

*Bo would fall asleep in the locker room before Auburn games while everyone else was going into roid rage

*Bo’s big superstition in college was that he had to bang his girlfriend the night before every game (true story)

*He blamed Tampa Bay for getting him kicked off the Auburn baseball team and told them to fuck off when they took him #1 in the Draft. That. Is. Awesome.

*I liked the Tecmo Bowl reference and thought it was great the way Bomani Jones explained why he only got one play.

*That dislocated hip robbed us of what could have been something truly great. I still have his autographed baseball bat hanging in my "man cave" right above the Reggie Jackson, Ted Williams, Catfish Hunter and Cal Ripken bats.

*Bo clearly knows food these days.

Anyway, it got me thinking about some 30 For 30’s that I would like to see eventually. That is also the topic for today’s post:

What event/team/player/incident would you like to see a documentary made about? I have a handful that I think would be terrific.

*2004 Olympic Men’s Basketball Team – This team was a disaster from the start and embarrassed the entire country
*The Kobe Rape Trial – He would never participate in that but this would make for an incredible documentary
*The Baylor/Dave Bliss Murder Fiasco
*What the fuck happened to LeBron in that Celtics series
*A Day In The Life of Chip Kelly
*The Fall of Tiger Woods

So let’s do ESPN’s job for them today and start filling program time for them. Or if you want to talk about how awesome Bo Jackson was, that is fine, too. And if you didn’t get your picks in yesterday, don’t forget to make them today if you want in our little bowl pool. We have the Free contests at Spooky Express website and also a couple of paid contests which you can contact me about for Bowl season and Super Bowl

Sunday's List of 13: Doing some thinking out loud..........

13) Seven non-football schools defected from the Big East, basically killing that league; not sure if they'll form their own league or merge with the A-16, but college sports gets a little more confusing every week.

12) What do San Diego State/Boise State do now? They didn't leave the MWC to join Conference USA, but thats whats left of the Big East now. Would the Mountain West take them back? I'm guessing they would.

11) Loyola Md is leaving the MAAC for the Patriot League, so the MAAC poached Monmouth from the NEC, to get back to ten teams.

10) Wild start to the bowl season, as Arizona scored two TDs in last 0:46 to stun Nevada 49-48 in the New Mexico Bowl; Wildcats trailed 21-0 early on, 45-28 after three quarters, but recovered an onside kick in last minute in a game that was pretty much devoid of good defense.

Earlier in the game, two Arizona players got into a fight (with each other) on the bench. Wild game on a big day in Albuquerque, between the bowl game and then the Lobos beating in-state rival New Mexico State by 15 in The Pit.

9) Cleveland Cavaliers have three guys playing with facial fractures; thats 25% of their active roster.

8) Speaking of the Cavaliers, Kyrie Irving had best game of his pro career against the Knicks Saturday night, scoring 41 points the night after he broke a bone in his face. Irving only played 11 games at Duke, none in ACC play; he is the real deal.

7) 5-11 walk-on Alex Barlow, who had 12 points in nine games coming in, scored the winning hoop as Butler beat #1 Indiana 88-86 in OT. Brad Stevens is the man, for sure; Butler has beaten Indiana/North Carolina this year.

6) Louisville was down 16 at Memphis, rallied to beat Tigers 87-78; Cards wore foul-prone Memphis down, scored 59 points in the second half.

5) Florida led by 6 at Arizona with 0:56 left, but lost 65-64 in game that is going to be a huge help to Arizona's seeding on Selection Sunday.

4) Creighton got another impressive win, beating Cal 74-64 in Berkeley behind Doug McDermott's 34 points.

3) Nothing against the Potato Bowl in Boise, I'm sure Boise is a terrific city and all, but if I'm a college football player, I'd rather not go to a bowl game where the sideline reporter is wearing gloves.

2) Kirk Cousins gets the nod to start at QB for the Redskins Sunday, as the Redskins err on the side of caution with RGIII's knee.

1) Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families in Connecticut that lost loved ones Friday. Not even sure what else to say about it; its just very sad.

Monday's List of 13: Wrapping up a sports weekend.........

13) Seven NFL teams this week have had turnover ratios of -2 or worse; not only have all seven lost, they lost by an average score of 38-11. Five of those seven teams also wound up with field position deficits of 10+ yards. You cannot win for long in the NFL playing on a longer field.than the other guys are. Especially if you're not as good as the other guys.

12) Arizona broke its 9-game losing streak by beating the hideous Lions 38-10; on the Cardinals' five TDs, they contributed a total of 37 yards--two TDs were scored by the defense-- offense scored on drives of 3-5-29 yards. Arizona had a 23-yard edge in field position, in addition to the TDs scored by their defense. Another abysmal performance by Detroit. I am embarrassed.

11) Packers led 21-10 in Chicago with 8:00 left, the Bears are punting, the game is basically over, but Green Bay inexplicably tried a cross-field lateral on the punt return, which was predictably fumbled and Chicago recovered, giving them a chance to move within 21-13. A ridiculously stupid play.

Seriously, this was the worst tactical blunder I've seen since Sam Wyche had the Bengals take a knee on a 4th-down play in a 1987 game aganst the 49ers, giving Joe Montana one more play, on which he threw the winning TD pass. Only thing to save Wyche from being fired that day was the league going on strike the next day. They should've fired him anyway.

10) Chicago is 7-6 after being 6-1, giving them a chance to be second team in the Wild Card era ('96 Redskins) to miss the playoffs after being 7-1. If you like to read body language, Jay Cutler's would have a lot of bleeps in it.

9) Giants are 4th NFL team ever to score 50+ points one week, get shut out the next week; '05 Redskins were last team to do that.

8) Saints gave up those 52 points in Swamp Stadium last week, so of course they shut the Buccaneers out today. Makes perfect sense. Kind of.

7) The Rams got pasted by Minnesota; two worst games the Rams played this year were the only two games they were favored to win. Still lot of progress this year, but this was a deflating performance.

6) A sub-par crowd of 40,770 in Toronto watched Seahawks crush Buffalo 50-17; I am told Seattle ran a fake punt while leading 47-17-- whats the point of doing that, and whats the point of having a game in Toronto, if they don't sell the game out? Seattle-San Francisco next week will be interesting.

5) Buffalo's Stevie Johnson made maybe the best catch I've ever seen early in third quarter of Seahawks-Bills game- tremendous grab of a high ball behind him with just his right hand. And it earned a 1st down on 3rd-and-long. Too bad Johnson doesn't play defense; the Bills got hammered in this game.

4) Before CJ Spiller scored with 0:34 left in first quarter, Seattle had scored 78 unanswered points over three games; that was the Seahawks' last away game of the regular season. Wonder if (former NC State coach) Tom O'Brien roots for the Seahawks? I'm guessing not.

3) What genius came up with the NFL rule, "If QB is hit while throwing the ball, it doesn't matter what direction the ball goes in, it is incomplete (assuming it is not caught)"?

If the ball is thrown backwards, why shouldn't it be a lateral, and therefore a free ball? Why overcomplicate something that should be simple?

2) I'm thinking penalties are the least-telling statistic in football; Steelers didn't have a penalty accepted in Dallas Sunday. Cowboys had eight accepted for 61 yards. There is almost no correlation between penalties and winning.

1) Bad news for the Chiefs: They didn't have a first down in the first 36:00 of their 15-0 loss at Oakland, and gained a total of only 119 yards.

Good news for the Chiefs: Their nightmare of a season ends in two weeks.

The Worst Of Week Fifteen

While I am still basking in the glory of my superior bowl picks, I am still humbled by the horrendous season the Lions have had. Here goes the crap of the weekend.

Brandon Weeden - Boy does he suck dick.

All that doubt the Redskins - OK, that was a legit win yesterday. Backup QB? No big deal. The offense was still unstoppable. And would you look at that...they are winning the East. Normal people would probably agree that the Redskins are a good team that is insanely hot right now.

Eli Manning, Josh Freeman, and Rainbow Tenor -
I feel like seeing three shutouts in one day is more rare than Bob Costas going a week without having his starfish split open. Just what Finance said earlier this morning. Very rare.

Brandon Marshall - LOL way to cry in your presser! The Bears are going to miss the playoffs.

Everyone but Adrian Peterson - I sat next to a black guy in a Lee Suggs jersey yesterday and he was cool as hell but he was creepily interested in AD's chase of Eric Dickerson. Peterson is so sick.

Johnny BRAH - So I guess Cam Cameron wasn't the problem then? Put that on your resume.

Fatty McChins - LOLOLOLOLOLIONS! WHAT A SACK OF SHIT! YOU GOT MURDERED BY BEANIE WELLS AND HIS TERRIBLE TEAMMATES! THE LIONS ARE A BIGGER JOKE THAN KENTUCKY BASKETBALL AND DETROIT TIGERS BASEBALL COMBINED!

Big Ben - Thanks for nothing, donkey dick.

Before we head into bowl week, we have MNF and a couple days of rest. So lets start off the week with a couple small plays. As you know and since someone sent me wall post, I buy the point where needed. Never have an issue laying -140 in baseball so have no problem laying -140 in football if it warrants.

NFL

TENNESSEE +3
Really hate the Jets and hard to pass up buying up some and taking 3 points in this game. Jets rarely score 3 points in a game. lol

TENNESSEE TITANS/NEW JERSEY JETS UNDER 43 POINTS
See my comments above with the Jets scoring.
