Would have been nice. We cashed moneyline so keeps alive all those ml parlays I talked about. After starting out 5-0 tough way to win a game and lose giving the points. Could of, should of. Would have been nice. :(

Thanks Yisman. Happy and healthy holidays to you my friend.

Need to turn the ship around here. Bowl season is the ONLY time in the year that I ever look at crunching numbers and do more processing the numbers than processing my thoughts on a game. So unfortunately if the numbers show it one way its not that often that I go the other way. But it does happen. 5 straight to start bowl season and 3 straight going the other way. Hopefully we can hit 60% of the remaining games to make it another great season. System hasnt failed me in 30 plus years so why start now. GL

Spooky alittle curious on two picks... bowling green is really bad team 7 of their wins 8 came against teams that didnt have a winning record. Bearcats have been a different team without munncie as their qb. I hope you took in account that in your numbers.
You miss 100% of the shots you dont take...

Thanks Docterz. First of all if you are on San Jose and Duke, congrats. Early on you seem so right.
Let me explain. In 1977 and in the early 1980's as a kid I was messing around with systems and crunching numbers. This is with all the sports, baseball, football, basketball. Well obviously there was nothing that really panned out. No miracle system or martingale system that will allow you to win all the time. But with the bowl season I came up with a system that was unique and worked on it. Since 1977 the system has NEVER had a losing season. The problem is this. I never crunch numbers in my regular handicapping of any sport and all my handicapping is done with my head and (heart) lol. But this bowl system is based only on numbers. so when you asked if I took that into account. I did not. I use maybe 25% if that, basing my capping on anything outside the numbers. So the good part is the system has never had a losing season. The best being 24-3 and the worst at 19-17. With many more bowl games now its a lot more games to process so I am not going to do a 24-3 again since I do this for fun and will have action on every game even if I have to bet on two cockroaches racing at halftime. The bad news is the system may make a selection on a game (ie Cincinnati) that is entirely not what I think will happen but since the system takes precedence over my head and heart I stick with the system. And yes I kick myself often times wondering what I was thinking. lol

On the Bowling Green play, honestly that seemed to me to be a touchback. Bowling Green was the right side and should of, could of been the winning side. SO much for that. The funny thing the games that are so one sided in the numbers usually do not perform any better than the games that are very close to the numbers in the system.

Hope this explains a little. So really cant offer too much insight in why I make a play in bowl season outside of the numbers. But if you ask me with baseball and football outside bowl season I can really talk intelligently and give you a reason why.

Happy New Year and continued success.

Please read the first 3 posts on this thread. Simple as that.
I dont post these for anyone in particular. Just the plays that I made. And my recommendations.
The lines are posted weeks ago. Nothing really changes. I may update them if I then play again or change my picks. I have stated I buy point as needed to benefit what I think is to my advantage. I would lay -140 in baseball and not think twice, so why not do the same in football to get a better line.

But please read the first 3 posts on this thread. These are the lines I played them at. Whether it be to my advantage or not. But the original lines were what I played first and second week of December. 3 weeks ago. And I always said I will update as I get closer. Hope this helps some. TY

Sunday's List of 13: Wrapping up a sports Saturday.........

13) I enjoy watching the bowl games, which is quite obvious, but they don't mean anything; could you imagine how huge a 16-team college football tournament would be? I'm thinking it would fantastic, an enormous money maker.

12) Rough day for service academies, with Navy/Air Force getting crushed by combined score of 95-42 to Arizona State/Rice.

11) What a season Michigan State had; they beat TCU 17-16 in the Wild Wings Bowl in Tempe, ninth game out of Spartans' 13 this year that were decided by 4 or less points. Too bad they lost five of those nine games.

10) UConn did the right thing and signed up hoop coach Kevin Ollie to a 5-year deal to replace the legendary Jim Calhoun; that is necessary now so the Huskies can recruit at their normal pace. Longer Ollie remained with the interim label, the worse UConn's recruiting was going to go. .

9) Louisville 80, Kentucky 77-- Cardinals were up 17 at one point, but the Wildcats fought back, thanks to 10-21 shooting from the arc. Kentucky was just 11-23 from the foul line in its first loss to Louisville in last five games.

8) Charlotte Bobcats led New Orleans by 17 at the half, as they tried to end their 17-game losing skid, but they snatched defeat from jaws of victory, losing 98-95 at home to the Hornets. Tough times for Mike Dunlap, who is an excellent tactician, but lacks talent, obviously.

7) Nice of Nets to fire Avery Johnson right before they played Charlotte, Cleveland, virtually guaranteeing the interim coach a 2-0 start; if Johnson had won those two games and was 16-14, he'd be a lot harder to fire. .

6) Loyola 69, DePaul 61-- Very bad loss for the Blue Demons/Catholic 7, who won't get much of a new TV contract with losses like this one.

5) Rough day for Oregon State athletic department; Beavers' hoop team lost at home in OT to Towson State, which was 1-31 LY; football team blew a 10-point second half lead, lost 31-27 to Texas in the Alamo Bowl, in game where Mike Riley actually got outcoached by Mack Brown? Awful loss.

4) Milwaukee Bucks beat the Heat by 19 at home; quick, without looking it up, name the Bucks' starting lineup. Other than Lebron/Wade, Miami was 12-37 from the floor for the game.

3) Not sure I've seen this in the shotclock era, but Cal-Irvine beat Cal-Davis 69-58 in OT, with Davis outscored 11-0 in the overtime period. Don't think I can remember a game where a team lost in OT without scoring.

2) Does anyone out there think a major college football player gets excited about going to a bowl game in the south Bronx? Other teams go to Florida or Hawai'i or Arizona or California, West Virginia-Syracuse played in the snow. After dark. One thing was similar to baseball season; there still weren't too many fans sitting in those expensive seats near the baseball dugouts.

1) Word is out that the Cleveland Browns have already decided to fire coach Pat Shurmur and their GM; whenever a new owner comes in, and he doesn't have a winning team, he's going to want to hire his own people to try and turn things around. Browns improved some this year, its too bad.

I am not going to make excuses but sometimes I just frigging overthink things. The bowl system which basically has been my mantra for dozens of years is just so much fun to do and so consistent that it wins every year. Only when I overthink it do I run into trouble. So yesterday we have Tulsa as my Best Bet of the Bowl season. As posted on the first couple posts on this thread weeks ago Cincinnati and Tulsa were the "locks" of the bowl season. We also have Vanderbilt which was a no brainer pick weeks ago. Then comes the stupid part. We have USC winning the game by 4 points. Well as I see it Georgia Tech was getting a touchdown plus if you go back a few weeks. But what do I do. Instead of not posting a side I make an emotional pick and post USC. Whereas Georgia Tech is basically the play and if I posted it weeks ago you would have gotten double digits on the line. Okay, anyone that knows me, knows to disregard what I say when talking about USC and the Detroit Lions. But then is where the stupid part comes in. I have LSU winning by 1 point. Yeah 1 point. Now everyone is jumping all over LSU and the line goes to 6. Well hello. Clemson is the play. I posted they were the play. But yet I decide to post the Over. Life is like a box of chocolates and and sometimes you are just plain stupid. I should of had a 4 team parlay winner yesterday with both of my "locks" in bowl season winning. Yet I sit here and say could of should of would of.

Sorry its a new year and had to vent my frustrations at the Spooky from last year. This year will be different.

Happy New Year!!!!

Tuesday's List of 13: Happy New Year to all of you.......

First things first.......lets look at all the NFL teams who made changes in their coaching staff or front office Monday..........

13) Arizona-- Are they kidding? Before Ken Whisenhunt coached this team, Cardinals were 41-87 the previous eight years, a disaster. Once they got a QB who could play (Kurt Warner) they made the Super Bowl. They failed to get a guy to replace Warner, but they might regret this move.

12) Buffalo-- Went 10-6/11-5/8-8 in three years under Wade Phillips from 1998-2000, fired him, have had one winning season since; next year they'll have their sixth head coach in 16 years. Steelers have had three head coaches in last 43 years. As long as Tom Brady is playing, this is a bad job, because the best you can do is second place in the division.

11) Chicago-- I'll say this; you have an African-American coach who won a lot of games in a sport where most of the players are African-American, and you fire him after he went 10-6, well......you better replace him with a bigtime coach. What bigtime coach you replacing Lovie Smith with?

Smith was 84-66 in Chicago, 30-20 last three years, but he made playoffs once in last six years, since losing the Super Bowl to Indy. I totally disagree with this move; if Packers beat Minnesota, he keeps his job, so he basically got fired because the Vikings beat Green Bay. Is this how you run a business worth almost a billion dollars?

10) Cleveland-- New owners tend to bring in their own guys, so Shurmur got sent packing, even though the Browns were showing improvement.

9) Jacksonville-- Coach Mularkey is last Buffalo HC with a winning year, but if this owner really wants Tim Tebow and they get him, Mularkey will be on this list next year, and also on the unemployment line. GM Smith got canned here. This franchise could wind up anywhere from London to LA.

8) Kansas City-- Everyone is relieved this season is over; Crennel will need therapy for years probably, after watching one of his players shoot himself in stadium parking lot. Organization needs a totally fresh start, but they have yet to dump GM Pioli, whose claims to fame are knowing Tom Brady, and being married to Bill Parcells' daughter.

7) NJ Jets-- GM Tannenbaum takes fall for Tebowmania, Sparano gets the boot too, but Rex Ryan gets another year, albeit with an all new offense. It remains to be seen who the QB will be, but it'll probably be a new one.

6) Philadelphia-- You get so long to win a title, then its time to part ways; Reid never replaced DC Jim Johnson with a quality coordinator, and that was the cause of his demise here. Eagles will go after Oregon coach Chip Kelly, which will be interesting. If he does as well as Reid did in Philly, Eagle fans will be happy- they'll be happier if he wins a title. .

5) San Diego-- Philip Rivers and the weather make this a pretty good open job, especially with Chiefs/Raiders down and Peyton Manning being 37. If I'm making this decision for the Spanos family, I'm going after Reid.

4) Tennessee-- Mike Munchak gets another year; Mike Reinfeldt, team's COO got canned by eccentric owner Bud Adams, who turns 90 this week. QB Locker plays like a righthanded Tebow- this franchise appears doomed; how they ever let Jeff Fisher get out of town is a mystery. Look here and at Buffalo; owners in their late 80's aren't very patient.

Elsewhere in the world........
3) Gonzaga won by a point at Oklahoma State, very good hoop game.

2) Les Miles set clock management back 20 years in LSU's 25-24 loss to Clemson; how much do these bowls matter to teams? Sometimes the way a game is coached, its like they just play the game but they care more about the halftime interview; recruiting season means more than the bowl outcome. If I had LSU's running backs and a 24-22 lead with 5:00 left, I sure as hell ain't throwing ball on three straight plays from midfield, but thats just me.

1) Then there is USC, which lost 21-7 to Georgia Tech, a 6-7 Tech team that fired its DC in midseason, lost 49-28 to Middle Tennessee. If someone knows how Lane Kiffin keeps getting these prime jobs, clue me in. Raiders, then Tennessee, then USC. Why? What has he done?

USC is a 7-6 team? Trojan players bitched about being in El Paso, and their indifference was obvious in watching the game. Never throwing the ball downfield. The QB Winnick regressed over the past month since the Notre Dame game. Just amazes me to see this happening. Kiffen was on the sidelines all bundled up cause his ass was cold while on the Georgia Tech sideline the coach was showing his players it aint cold, we are happy to be here and lets win the game. Kiffen should wake up this morning with a fucking horses head next to him on his bed.
