Seattle Seahawks at Miami Dolphins – Open: +1, Move: +3

Seasoned bettors know the Seahawks are almost a sure bet at raucous CenturyLink Field. But Seattle is proving itself on the road this season too.

“Bettors definitely have more faith in Seattle on the road this season,” according to sportsbooks. “The Seahawks have covered in two of their last three on the road and five of six overall. Despite those numbers, 85 percent of the action is on Miami -3.”

Seahawks are last in NFL in big plays, and Dolphins are next-to-last. Seattle has gained at least 20 yards 27 times, Miami 29 times.

Matchup: Buffalo Bills at Indianapolis Colts

Spread: Colts minus-3
Public consensus pick: 63 percent picked Colts
SuperContestants: 152-137 in favor of Colts

Public perception: The Colts and Andrew Luck lovefest continues, with them getting more than 60 percent of the public support this week despite losing to the Patriots 59-24. I guess the public didn't think much of the Bills' 19-14 win over the Dolphins last Thursday night.

Wiseguys' view: The sharps are split on this game also. Many believe Luck is the real deal and should continue to be backed, while others see that the Colts' record was built against a soft schedule. The question becomes whether the Bills will be another weak team they shine against.

Tuley's Take: I'm more in the camp that thinks the Colts, while improved, are a team to fade off their inflated record and public hype. The Bills aren't as good as many wiseguys thought they would be this year (when they were one of the most-bet teams over the summer in future wagers), but they covered against the Patriots two weeks ago and are improving. The pick: Bills.

Chargers Text the Ravens Smacktalk

Chargers linebacker Jarrett Johnson spent nine years with the Baltimore Ravens.

Michael Gelhken of UT San Diego reports in the days leading up to Sunday's matchup with his former team, Johnson scrolled through his cell phone directory and found every number of a Ravens offensive player he had, then, he sent a mass text message to the group.

"I told them I was going to kick all of their asses," Johnson said recently with a laugh.

It was all in good fun.

Some ex-teammates responded, others, like running back Ray Rice, resisted the urge.

There appears to be no bad blood between the two sides, who've expressed mutual admiration.

"I was going to put a little ‘laugh out loud,’ but no response," Rice said to Baltimore media. "We know what kind of guy Double J is. He’s the ultimate pro, and we’ve got tremendous respect for him.”

Steelers Leftwich says he hurt ribs early, not late as Mike Tomlin believed. Here's why he didn't leave that game

Tomlin said the other day he thought Leftwich was injured on the last sack. Leftwich said his ribs were broken on the first sack. So, why did he stay in then and can't go today?
Leftwich: “Right now, it’s hard to do anything. That’s what happens in football. I had enough adrenaline at the time. It didn’t affect those balls. It didn’t affect those throws. I just wish I could’ve found another way to make another play here and there to win the game.”

say what you want but this guy is tough

The Atlanta Falcons give up the most rushing yards after contact in the NFL ---means they cannot tackle well at all..

Matchup: Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs

Spread: Broncos minus-10.5
Public consensus pick: 67 percent picked Broncos
SuperContestants: 102-95 in favor of Chiefs

Public perception: Two-thirds of the public is behind the Broncos, obviously feeling that their noncover against the Chargers was a fluke. The Chiefs' 28-6 loss to the Bengals also doesn't give the public much reason to look their way.

Wiseguys' view: Borrowing a stat from Marc Lawrence's "Playbook" newsletter, NFL home underdogs of eight or more points are 22-2 ATS over the past three years. Wiseguys know it's either 'dog or pass in this spot.

Tuley's Take: I love double-digit underdogs. I love home 'dogs. So you should know I can't resist a double-digit home underdog. Besides, despite their awful 2-8 record, the Chiefs have played their best against the best teams (road upset of New Orleans, cover as home 'dog versus Baltimore, cover as double-digit road 'dog at Pittsburgh). The pick: Chiefs.

Green Bay Packers at New York Giants – Open: -1, 49, Move: -3, 51

This marquee matchup has been getting all kinds of attention from a betting perspective, but it’s not just the spread that has bettors excited about this one.

“Packers/Giants will be the biggest game of the week from a volume (action) perspective,”. “The Giants are currently at the opening number of -2.5 here and the total has gone from 49 to 51.5. Around 80 percent of the action is on the Packers, but the over (90%) has also been a popular bet.”
