My doggie story.

I'll try to keep it short. We bought a new Rottie on Saturday. Died of parvo yesterday. We're sad, but honestly, only had it a couple days. My five year old son is heart broken though. It wasn't our falut, the breeder obviously has it at his facility. (7-10 day incubation period, no way it caught it from us)
So, we're talking to breeder now about replacement. He's going to have to pay medical bills for us, and have a blood test on any new dog to make sure it's antibodies are good to go against parvo. Quite a mess really. Been an emotional few days, we're upset, sad, etc.

I had a 9 year old rot who was my best buddy, had to put him down right after my son was born. (Cancer) My wife and I got him when we first started dating, so he was there for everything. Dating, marriage, new home, new son. Took me a long time to be ready for another dog, and when we finally get excited and make the call to do it, this happens.

Oh well, I realize there are other things in life happening to other people (Sandy) and my ordeal is miniscule in comparison, but it still hurt. We told my son the pup had to go back to his mom to be better, and would need to stay there. We'll get a new dog that's healthy with no problems. Hoped that would make things easier, not ready to tell him the dog died. Well, it didn't help much, he balled his eyes out. That was the hard part!

Okay, thanks for listening, hope everyone's doing okay in here!

I must be gettin' old... I still think baseball is cool.

Man that's horrible! I can't imagine! We had a Newfoundland for 12 years and it was the same thing she was there for the birth of our first daughter, etc. it's amazing that it's been 8 years that she's been gone and I still to this day have vivid dreams with her in them like she's still with us...I feel for ya brother...sure hope the next one works out better....

Oh, man, I am so sorry. As one of the biggest "animal fans" on the site, I can't even bear to think about it.

Never, ever criticize someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes........for at that point they will be a mile away. And you'll have their shoes !
