A couple years ago I was following a thread written by a poster at a now defunct board(I think), his name was BAGIANT and he used to post this interesting(I thought) thread regarding the Nevada bookies point spread battle. I thought I’d steal the idea and post it here…hope it’sOK!
The full chart can be found in the Gaming Today weekly publication that is found in all the Las Vegas sportsbooks. The bookies must make their picks Sunday night when the lines first come out and before any major injuries are announced. I’ll make a note of any significant line changes as I post.
I’ll post the top 3 bookies’ picks and note were they differ from the consensus, as I believe this is where the value is!
Format is Bookie(Casino) Last weeks record, overall record, then this weeks picks, and his best bet of the week.
(I singled out Turco as best record last week, and Fogg, Spot and Pool have been in the top of this contest before. I can’t find online who won this last year, and I don’t remember!)
Frank Turco(El Cortez) Last week 11-3, NO, DET, JAC, BUF, ARI, TEN, PIT, CAR, MIN, CLE, DAL, HOU, SD, DEN, ATL, NYG and Best Bet is SD
Bill Fogg(Aquarius) Last week 10-4, CHI, KC, JAC, BUF, ARI, TEN, SEA, CAR, TB, IND, SF, HOU, SD, DEN, ATL, NYG and Best Bet is IND
Josh Pool(Palace Station) Last week 9-5, CHI, DET, JAC, BUF, ARI, BAL, PIT, GB, TB, IND, DAL, HOU, SD, DEN, ATL, NYG and Best Bet is DAL
Johnny Spot(Bills Gambling Hall) Last week 6-8, CHI, DET, JAC, OAK, WAS, BAL, PIT, GB, MIN, CLE, DAL, HOU, NE, CIN, ATL, NYG and Best Bet is PIT
Consensus Last week 10-4, NO, DET, JAC, BUF, ARI, BAL, PIT, GB, TB, IND, DAL, MIA, SD, DEN, ATL, NYG
Key line changes: Bookies picked the KC/DET game at –7.5(it’s –9 now); They picked the JAC/NYJ game at –10.5(-9 now); and they picked the CIN/DEN game at –5.5(it’s –3.5 now)
Top 4 all have Houston over Miami, whereas the consensus has the Dolphins.
3 out of 4 Top bookies have Chicago over New Orleans, yet the consensus has the Saints.
