Will Irish eyes smile this Saturday?

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees has completed 70% of his tosses for over 300 yards per contest. Wide receiver Michael Floyd has 25 receptions in two games. Cierre Wood is averaging over 100 rushing yards per game. Still, the Fighting Irish have not had much to smile about with losses to South Florida and Michigan.

The primary reason for Notre Dame's terrible start has been its own undoing. The Irish are last nationally in both turnovers lost (10) and turnover margin (-7). In addition, they also might be feeling the heat mentally after the stunning loss to the Wolverines.

Returning home should give them a boost. However, this is not a team that has relished playing in its home stadium. Notre Dame is just 13-15 at home since the start of the '07 campaign and 4-6 in the last 10 games.

Michigan State comes to South Bend at 2-0 with home victories over Youngstown State and Florida Atlantic. Notre Dame presents a huge upgrade in talent over those two schools but it's not as if the Spartans are unaware of what the Irish bring to the table.

Mark Dantonio's squad not only won last year's matchup, 34-31, but the Spartans are 6-4 straight-up and 6-3-1 against-the-spread against Notre Dame over the last 10 years. More importantly, they are 7-1 SU and 8-0 ATS in the last eight meetings in South Bend!

The Spartans rolled up 477 yards of offense in last year's high-scoring affair, and 459 yards two seasons ago - the only time they have lost at Notre Dame since 1993. Look for them to rack up a ton of yards and points once again as they knock off the favored Irish by at least a field goal.

Irish are once again over rated. NBC needs the Irish to be ranked so they can sell add space for their TV deal. Notre Dame is soooo over rated.

There will be 60+ points in the game.....with the humilation of the last two games I cant see ND coming out and winning this one against Mich. St.

I have to admit I too have thought ND has been over rated for years? I don't know why NBC would elect to show their games all season when there are so many other's out there much more worthy. (If they haven't fired the guy who made that deal I hope they demoted him)

I have to agree ... I like Mich. St. +5.5
