I love it!! I am a phillies fan, but I root for the bucs too. How could you not root for a team like this to at least have a winning season? I miss the days when the phils and pirates were in the same division. They used to have some epic battles. Even when the pirates suck, they always seem to play my phillies tough, especially in pittsburgh.

They're young, they're scrappy but they also have some good solid starting pitching as well as some prominent and clutch hitters led by McCutchen. We all remember what happened last season when they were out to a first half record slightly above .500. Let's hope the offense doesn't do them in this time and they can compete.

I think it would be great if the Pirates, O's and Nats all could hang on and at least make the playoffs - turn the baseball world on it's ear......Nats seem to have the best shot but it will be fun to see what happens

It's good to see the Pirates on the rise , there pitching from rotation to bullpen looks like it could be solid the rest of the way. But i think they need some added consistency and a step forward from guys like Tabata or Alvarez to continue to make some noise in the second half. But they are quite a scrappy bunch and win or lose a fun team to watch !

ty for the great comments, they are a scrappy team, but sometimes thats dangerous. After the 7th leading pirates are 22-0. that stat there holds there going to be tuff

It's about time small market teams become competitive given the personnel pieces they have installed at their positions for the long haul. It shows that up and coming teams have the tools to compete with larger market playoff teams that have 'been there done that' attracting their fan base when it comes to the postseason.
