So with madness back and a run of 7 straight winners that were posted here and a lot more on the monitor lets try to
keep it gong. The interesting thing is I have a few futures that are still alive and that makes trying to be objective more difficult.
I have Florida at huge odds to win it all and 15-1 to win their region. So I have to stay away from that game and really like the games tomorrow better than tonight. So without forcing anything.

MARCH MADNESS

CINCINNATI/OHIO STATE OVER 128 POINTS

SYRACUSE PK -165

Again like the games better tomorrow but lets see how these work out.

Winners keep on cumming.

Friday's six-pack

-- Louisville beat Michigan State, despite going 1-15 inside the arc in the first half. Rick Pitino is now 10-0 in Sweet 16 games.

-- Syracuse survived Wisconsin 64-63, as Badgers were 14-27 from arc, but missed their last five. First Sweet 16 win for Syracuse since they won the national championship nine years ago.

-- Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan doesn't have a board to diagram plays on. Seriously, he doesn't.

-- ESPN.com reports that Justin Verlander threw 4,301 pitches LY, the most of any pitcher in a season since 2002.

-- Ohio State blew a 12-point halftime lead, then rallied to beat Cincinnati and save the Big Dozen from an 0-3 night.

-- If you're looking ahead to the regional finals Saturday/Sunday, you'll be interested to know that over the last nine seasons, underdogs are 25-11 vs spread in regional finals.

Friday's Dirty Dozen: Clearing out a cluttered mind........

12) While Sean Payton serves his one-year suspension, can he appear on TV? Write for a newspaper/website? He’d be a great get for ESPN or FOX, but not sure what he’s allowed to do. He has to be able to earn a living somehow, though he hopefully doesn’t need the money. I mean if some entity that isn’t involved with the NFL wanted to hire him to do NFL-related commentary, or even analyze college games, would that be OK?

11) Buffalo Bills suggested a rule change that would have the replay official upstairs decide on instant replay challenges, much like they do in college ball. Would make for faster replay reviews.

10) Now that Hines Ward has retired from the NFL, he is selling his 12,000 square foot, 8 bedroom, 13 bathroom house, all for a mere $7.5M (hey, it has a pool, too).

9) PGA Tour pretty much scuttled Q School as a way for new players to get on Tour, building up the Nationwide Tour, primarily because they need a sponsor for that tour. Golf will pretty much be year-round now. Not all the details are etched in stone, but Q School will only get guys onto the Nationwide Tour, and guys from that tour will comprise the PGA Tour’s rookie class each year.

8) Denver Nuggets have been a single digit home favorite in 15 games this season, and are 1-12-2 against the spread in those games. That not good.

7) NFL teams that played to the lowest percentage of capacity in their home stadiums last year: Bengals, 75.2%; Dolphins 81%, Redskins, 83.9%, but they have the biggest stadium (in terms of seats. Dallas has more standing room).

6) I know there’s enough basketball on TV in March, but I’d love to see the junior college national tournament, even if someone taped it and showed it during the summer. Lot of future D-I players are playing and it would be enlightening. I know its a high quality of basketball.

5) 25 years ago Providence made the Final Four; Rick Pitino was the coach, Billy Donovan the point guard, Jeff Van Gundy was a graduate assistant. Lot of basketball brains on that bench.

4) This is the first NCAA tournament since 1992 where no 5-seeds made the Sweet 16.

3) Average major league baseball team is worth $605M; only two teams are worth less now than they were LY, the ownership-challenged Mets and the Tampa Bay Rays, whose TV ratings plunged with Carl Crawford off to greener pastures. Rays are another team that needs a new stadium.

2) We talked yesterday about Duquesne losing TJ McConnell, the fine point guard, who is transferring out; apparently the kid isn’t too fond of his teammates, so he left. His dad is tight with Sean Miller’s dad, both being coaches in western PA, so Arizona is a possible destination, and he would help the Wildcats. He'll help no matter where he tranfers to.

1) One of the guys here at the forum reports that he bought tickets to the Mets' home opener this week on StubHub and they're cheaper there than they would be at the box office at Citi Field, because of something called a facility charge they put on tickets sold at the ballpark. Terrific.......

That's just a GANGSTA move right there

Obviously, Kyrie Irving has nothing to do with college basketball from last night or tonight, but today is his birthday. The young dynamo. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KYRIE!!! Daddy loves you!

I assume that last night’s action will carry through the day today but, just in case all four games were uneventful turds and you didnt follow Spooky once again, let me give you some additional topics. We were down to 16 teams and thus four regional sites. It isn’t tricky math to figure out that that leaves us with 4 announce teams as well. To lead us into the weekend, I am going to judge those four groupings today.

The #1 Team – Jim Nantz and Clark Kellogg. I’ve mentioned numerous times how creepy Nantz is but, in reality, he is a perfectly acceptable play-by-play guy. He doesn’t make the game about him and displays the correct amount of emotion. Nantz is just rock solid. Kellogg, on the other hand, makes me long for the days of Billy Packer. Special K is just horrible. He can’t speak English, makes up the most random shit, and his catchphrases or whatever those are make about as much sense as a see-through toilet. I’m really not sure how Clark got this gig since he is very unqualified. It might rhyme with Blaffirmative Blaction though (RAYCESS!!!).

The #2 Team – Verne Lundquist and Bill Raftery. These old-timers just seem to get better as the years go by. I think that what makes them so entertaining is that you can tell that they genuinely like each other (the exact opposite dynamic of Nantz and Phil Simms). Apparently, Raftery still goes out drinking at pubs until all hours of the night. ONIONS! It is going to be a sad day when this duo retires. I’m not afraid to admit it: I love Verne Lundquist.

The #3 Team – Marv Albert and Steve Kerr. Now, we all know that college hoops are not their specialty, but they still do a good job. Kerr knows his shit and Marv’s voice is perfect for any level of basketball. Let’s be honest, CBS’s top three teams are pretty damn good.

The #4 Team – Kevin Harlan, Len Elmore, and Reggie Miller. Harlan is top notch. He’s got a distinct voice and his phrases like “RIGHT BETWEEN THE EYES” are special. He is no Gus Johnson, but Harlan is still enjoyable. His partners though…yeeeeesh. I have no idea what has gotten into Len Elmore this year. He usually bores me to sleep because he has no personality whatsoever. This year he appears to be trying out the same “jive” schtick that is working out so well for Mark Schlereth. Go ahead; listen to him, Len’s going to get all urban on your ass! I’ve hated Reggie for a long time. He doesn’t know anything. He constantly screws up simple basketball clichés (He had a full steam of head there, Marvelous!). He has at least 340 teeth in his mouth, too. The color commentary in this booth is just awful.

While he has nothing to do with CBS’s coverage of March Madness, I would also like to give a big FUCK YOU to the asshole who people still like to defend for some reason: Robert Montgomery Knight. We all know about how much he hates one-and-dones. He has a point and all considering that it is a stupid rule, but his childish demeanor and actions pretty much negate that point. In case you are unaware, Knight will not say “Kentucky” or reference Calipari in any interviews or TV appearances that he does. Instead, he calls them “Wildcats” or “the team from the SEC”. Dude, go fuck yourself. You are an analyst, not a critic. Sure, Calipari is as dirty as Seal’s underwear, but that isn’t your job. Bob Knight fucking sucks. Grow up, old man.

So let’s keep talking hoops today, shall we? Were the games good for you? Did Yancy Gates get arrested? Will Xavier and Baylor combine for 250 points? Is everyone on board for their fantasy baseball draft? GO TARHEELS AND WILDCATS!

What an awesome tournament it has been and continues to be. Lets hope it just doesnt stop. Tonight I like a few totals but the funny thing is I had a dream last night. For real. No bullshit. And it was all about Xavier winning the game. No idea why and no reason or rhyme that I was even thinking about it. But it was for real. So if MLK can have a dream so can I. GL

MARCH MADNESS

XAVIER +7

NORTH CAROLINA STATE +10

I do think Indiana will have a low scoring night and wouldnt be surprised to see Kansas not score that many either.
Figure it out for yourselves.

You know I always buy the point. So dont ask why I have a better number. But the monitor doesnt allow buying so
its accurate there and cant bitch about the results.

If ever there was a game you could look back and ask if it could be fixed Baylor up by 12 with 90 seconds and the ball. Then you have two TO's, allow wide open 3's plus Baylor missed one if not two FT's. We got very lucky or were on the right side. Winner either way.
