Detroit vs. Boston, 02/15/2012 19:30
Point Spread: +9½/-108 Detroit
While the Pitons come in off consecutive losses, they have won four of their last six games overall and are 6-1 in their last 7 games against the spread. Detroit was so bad early on in the season that they are still showing great value after covering six of seven. A big reason for the Pistons turnaround is they are as healthy as they have been all season. I don't think they will have any trouble keeping this game within double-digits.
While Detroit is just not getting healthy, the Pistons continue to deal with injuries to key players. Boston is already without Brandon Bass and are now expected to be without Kevin Garnett, who is listed as doubtful with a hip injury. Garnett doesn't put up huge numbers anymore, but he is still a huge part of what the Celtics stand for. He is the guy that keeps the defensive intensity as the other players feed off of his energy. Boston struggled without him in the lineup last year, and I expect the same thing to happen tonight.
There's no denying the Celtics are a great home team when it comes to winning games. Because so many people back Boston blindly at home it leads to a lot of inflated lines. Boston is just 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games as a home favorite of 5.0-10.5. BET THE PISTONS!
