Well if you are not aware, not going to be around this weekend and probably not until next week.
Usually like to get some props and lots of fun wagers down for everyone. But having surgery tomorrow is putting a stop to that.
Unfortunately, ruptured my achilles and just not in a happy fun kind of super bowl way of thinking.
8 weeks in a cast so its gonna suck big time.

I am playing the Giants and have been for a while as I previously mentioned. If I am not drug induced and around will see if I like anything else closer to game time and have Greek or Bobalou post it here.
Enjoy the game and good luck.

SUPER BOWL

NEW JERSEY GIANTS +3

NEW JERSEY GIANTS OVER 26.5 POINTS (Team Total)

One legged Handicapper List of 13: Doing some thinking out loud while taking my Vicodin every 4 hours.........

13) If your favorite team is playing in the Super Bowl, this is one damn exciting week; the anticipation builds as Sunday slowly approaches, as the outcome of a six-month long season boils down to one last 3-hour game. But if your team got beat in the playoffs this week is intolerable, filled with hype and an oversaturation of media. Either way, Sunday night can’t get here soon enough.

12) The week of buildup is especially hideous when the two teams are playing that have been here before; the chance of some ridiculous mistake (say, a starting DB getting caught with a transvestite hooker or getting into a bar brawl the night before the game) happening are far less.

Having the game in Indianapolis rather than New Orleans/Miami lessen the chances of nightclub-related hijinks. In short, this must be a great place for a Super Bowl if you’re one of the coaches. Way fewer worries.

11) David Woodley-Rex Grossman-Tony Eason and Neil O’Donnell all started a Super Bowl. Dan Fouts never did. Go figure.

10) Read an interesting piece this week showing the numerical parallel between the careers of Hall of Famer Marv Levy and Tom Coughlin- their numbers are almost identical, other than Levy has been in two more Super Bowls, but Coughlin has won one. Makes it look good for the Giant coach being inducted in Canton some day.

9) Bill Parcells and Mike Holmgren are the only head coaches to win a Super Bowl, then get back to the Super Bowl coaching another team; neither won with the second team. Dick Vermeil/Dan Reeves lost Super Bowls, then returned with different teams; Reeves lost with his second team too, but Vermeil won Super Bowl XXXIV with the Rams.

8) Two years from now, the Super Bowl is in Swamp Stadium, in New Jersey. In February. At night. An unspeakably dumb idea.

How would you like to shell out over $1,000 for a ticket to a game on a February night in New Jersey? If it was hockey, you could understand the cold, but not football. The championship game should be played in optimum conditions, if at all possible.

7) Lot of media carped about the Super Bowl being in Jacksonville, but remember this about Jacksonville; its in freakin’ Florida, albeit north Florida. Given a choice between being in northern New Jersey and northern Florida at night in February, the choice should always be Florida.

6) Four teams have never played in a Super Bowl: Browns-Texans-Jaguars-Lions. Three of those four are expansion teams. The other was once run by Matt Millen.

5) Jets/Chiefs won Super Bowls III and IV; neither has been back since. None of the players in Sunday’s game were alive when Hank Stram’s Chiefs upset Minnesota in Super Bowl IV.

4) Rather than putting a Super Bowl in London, NFL should consider putting the game in Las Vegas; who has done for the popularity of pro football than gamblers? The Las Vegas Hotel’s PDF file on gambling propositions for Sunday’s game is 44 freakin’ pages. This would work.

3) In a perfect world, where I decided everything, four cities would rotate hosting the Super Bowl, with a “wild card” city getting in there every fifth year. The four regulars would be Miami-San Diego-New Orleans and Tampa. The wild card cities would be anywhere with warm weather or a dome, with Las Vegas thrown in there once.

2) 11 years ago, a Super Bowl ticket was $350; now, tickets are over $1,000. The NFL sold 7,500 tickets to Media Day this year. Amazing.

1) The best Super Bowl-related commercial ever was after the Saints won; don’t even remember what it was for, but there was video of a house party with all Saints fans as New Orleans picked off that last Peyton Manning pass and ran it in for the clinching TD.

No narrator, just people hugging. Total joy and chaos. Good stuff.

Someone is going to feel like that Sunday night, but there is no joy like that feeling the first time you win a title. That’s part of what made the Saints’ title so special, having been a doormat for years and years before becoming World Champs. There's nothing like it.

Sick bed Top Ten: Clearing out a cluttered mind.......

10) UCLA is now 0-5 in Pac-12 games played outside LA; their only road win was at USC.

9) Knicks have been on ESPN/TNT three times in last eight nights; don’t the TV programmers know the Knicks aren’t good?

8) ESPN’s Hubie Brown ripped NBA players who campaign to be traded in the media, saying significant fines would put an end to such nonsense. If you’re not happy where you are, it reduces your chances of being happy in your next stop, especially when you’re getting paid millions to be there.

7) Speaking of overpaid, Simon Cowell is rumored to be offering Beyonce Knowles $100M to be a judge on X Factor; exactly where does that money come from?

Would her presence on the show recoup the production company their $100M back? I’m not saying it wouldn’t, I’m just wondering.

6) For 30 minutes Thursday, Murray State looked like a team playing with a big load on their shoulders, the load of being a mid-major that’s the last unbeaten team left in country; hopefully they’ll learn to deal with it.

5) Excellent coaching job being done by NC-Greensboro interim coach Wes Miller, who has the Spartans at 9-14 after being 1-11 at one point. Greensboro actually leads their half of the Southern Conference.

4) Bill Belichick’s non-Brady NFL coaching record: 52-62.

I’m just sayin’…….

3) Looking ahead to when I retire from my day job, I’m planning on going to A’s spring training for a week or so; I’ve never been to spring training. Hopefully they’ll get the go-ahead for that stadium in San Jose this summer, which would make 2016 the year they resume trying to win, so spring training would be a little more fun than usual.

2) I’m wondering why college basketball doesn’t have a Signing Day like college football does, then the next second I realize how thankful I am that they don’t; players are full enough of themselves as they are, and yes, I know I sound old when I say that.

1) I’m totally sick of hearing about Peyton Manning’s neck, but it should be pointed out that older brother Cooper’s football career as a WR at Ole Miss also ended because of a neck injury.

Sunday's List of 13: Wrapping up a sports Saturday from bed and my leg raised to the ceiling to prevent blood clots

13) Before I get into the day's basketball, let me say that I'm a Lions fan, not a fan of any of the five teams Bill Parcells worked for, but if he's not a Hall of Famer, then Yao Ming isn't tall. Anyone who thinks Marv Levy is a Hall of Famer and Parcells isn't shouldn't be allowed to vote. Its a joke.

12) This says a lot more about how the voting process stinks and how it is as much of a popularity contest as anything else. Levy is a good guy and Parcells can be a prick, but thats irrelevent. Voters are supposed to be evaluating a guy's career, not his likeability. Simply put, its not right.

11) Ironic that Curtis Martin got elected and he has already said he will ask Parcells to present him in Canton this summer. That should make for an interesting evening.

10) Switching to hoops, Missouri scored the last 11 points of the game to beat Kansas 74-71, in Jayhawks' last visit to Columbia as a conference rival. Mizzou moves to the SEC next year. No word on whether the two schools will keep their rivalry alive-- it'd be too bad if they didn't.

9) If I'm USC AD Pat Haden, I make Danny Hurley an offer he cannot refuse to become USC's hoop coach next season. The Trojans are awful, both bad and boring to watch- they need a jolt, and if Hurley can win at freakin' Wagner, I'm guessing he can win in LA.

8) Murray State is wobbling under the burden of being unbeaten; Racers struggled to beat a hideous UT-Martin squad 65-58 Saturday. No way do I vote Murray State in the top 10 after that performance.

7) Wisconsin lost 58-52 at home to Ohio State; hard to win when you're 5-27 from the arc, only 3-3 on the foul line. Buckeyes were only 1-7 on arc, but made 13-16 on the charity stripe.

6) Newly-signed Jeremy Lin scored 25 points with five rebounds, seven assists as the Knicks finally won a game, beating New Jersey 99-92. Lin is so new to the Knicks he doesn't even have a place to live; he stayed on teammate Landry Fields' couch Friday night.

5) Iona snapped Manhattan's 8-game winning streak with an 85-73 win in Draddy Gym; Gaels avenged an earlier loss to the Jaspers, when they led by 17 at the half, but couldn't seal the deal. They sealed it Saturday.

4) Clippers have led after the first quarter in 11 of their 13 home games, best record in the NBA. Toronto is 5-16-3 in first quarters, worst mark in the league. Signing Kenyon Martin affirms that the Clippers are serious contenders in the West.

3) Arizona Cardinal coach Ken Whisenhunt grew up in Augusta; when he was a kid, he worked on the scoreboards during The Masters.

2) Patriots cut a WR named Tiquan Underwood; not sure if its related, but Underwood was the guy Tom Brady was chewing out that game in Washington when OC Bill O'Brien then went after Brady, and the two had a shouting match. Curious time to cut a guy.

1) I'm not adverse to beating a dead horse, so one last Parcells point, as to why he belongs in the Hall of Fame. We know he won two titles with the Giants, but he also had the Patriots in the Super Bowl four years after they were 1-15 the year before he took over, and his Jets were 12-4 two years after they were 1-15, The guy was a great coach. A Hall of Famer.
