The worst pet peeve I have is that when centers or power forwards either post up or grab rebounds, they somehow feel the need to put the ball on the floor and dribble up to make a high percentage shot. Put the DAMN BISCUIT in the BASKET! Let the guards worry about the essentials.
LOL...there are VERY few students of the game any more...some of it is the constant showing of dunks, etc. on the highlight reels of ESPN....there just doesn't seem to be any reward any more for smart play....also the fact that the NCAA tourney has been watered down so most teams make it even if mediocre there just isn't any incentive for these guys to do anything but increase their athleticism....
It drives me crazy when a player goes for a fancy dunk in a tight game. if i was a coach i would bench any player that did that.
Its the little things that get to me while watching basketball the last few years. Making the smarter easier play is no longer good enough for too many , if its not spectacular enough to make an ESPN highlight then they want nothing to do with it. Plus seems like at least 65% of the guys on the court wanna score and could give a shit about playing defense , getting rebound position etc , just the simple fundamentals to being a better all around player. Sadly for too many those days are long gone.
I hate it when teams are ahead lets by say 8 with under a minute left and foul the other team...It drives me nuts
Your letting the other team a chance to score points & plus the clock is stopped
If the player has a clear path to the hoop...let him go
