CHRIS PAUL TO LAKERS AS PART OF 3 TEAM TRADE

Sources: Chris Paul to Lakers
The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to surrender Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom in a trade for New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul, sources tell ESPN.com's Marc Stein.

Sources close to the process tell Stein that the Houston Rockets remain part of the talks and are trying to complete a deal that would send Gasol in Houston and the Rockets' Luis Scola, Kevin Martin and Goran Dragic to New Orleans along with Odom.

In Paul, the Lakers would be getting an All-Star and U.S. Olympic Team member who has averaged 37.1 minutes, 18.7 points and 9.9 assists per game in his six seasons.

The Hornets had been fielding trade offers for Paul, who can opt out of his current contract after this season, in an effort to acquire new players for the star guard rather than letting him walk in free agency.

NBA 'pulled plug' on Chris Paul to Lakers trade

Posted by Ben Golliver.

On the same day that reports indicated that the New Orleans Hornets had engineered a 3-team trade that would have sent All-Star point guard Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Lakers, the trade, which also was to include the Houston Rockets, will not take place as expected.

Yahoo Sports reports that the NBA, which owns the Hornets and has veto power over all personnel moves, stepped in after prompting from unnamed NBA owners at Thursday's Board of Governors meeting.

The NBA has killed the proposed deal to send Chris Paul to the Los Angeles Lakers, league sources tell Yahoo! Sports. The NBA has caved to pressure from owners that the appearance of this deal, on heels of lockout, had to be stopped, sources tell Y! Sports. "The deal is off," a source involved in the talks tells Y! Sports. "It's dead."
Ken Berger of CBSSports.com confirmed that the blockbuster deal is now "dead" and that the NBA "pulled the plug" on the trade.

As word of the deal's rejection spread, Paul posted a one-word message on Twitter: "Wow."

NBA becoming a joke right now. Players telling owners who they want to be traded to and the League telling teams what they can and cannot do, denying trades. I am not so sure how much I am even interested in this shortened NBA season this year.

Howard looks like he wants to goto the Nets..

While I was surprised the Lakers were pulling this one off, the trade itself was pretty fair NO was getting some decent talent, picks etc.. Alot better then just letting him walk. Makes you scratch your head.

NO would have gotten some very good players
I would take Scola and Martin over Paul

Martin is a team killer...only cares about his own stats and has a terrible shooting percentage (while taking all of the team's shots)...I'm thinking that was their logic...with gasol, it will allow lowry to develop even more from a stellar breakout season last year..and then they can move patrick patterson to power forward and have a great front line...

My two cents..

Good luck.

Now Paul is reportedly headed to the Clippers. Why don't they just draw straws at this point?
