Pretty good deal for Albert. Hard to say how long he can sustain his current level, but could still be better than average hitter around 40. Angels are rolling the dice. Not sure if it's financially good deal for them, but should at least help ticket sales for few years.
Anaheim didn't join the fray until late last night and early this morning. St. Louis was only offering 9 years at $198 which became $220M over 10 years while Miami took themselves out of the running after signing Mark Buerhle. Amazing what an additional $34M could do.
Give credit to Arte Moreno where it's due. Anaheim also shelled out another $74M over 5 years to land CJ Wilson. Clearly the balance of power in the AL West has shifted and could have a major impact on who gets to the big show from the AL in 2012.

as a texas rangers fanatic...i'm not sad to see cj wilson go. the angels overpaid on both players....cj is inconsistent, walks a ton of batters, and will give you 4-6 good innings on a good day. there is a reason why jon daniels didn't shell out the dough for him....rangers have signed one of the best and experienced closers to take over (joe nathan) for neftali feliz who will be moving to the rotation...like ogando this past year, i think this will turn out great. the angels won't beat out the rangers...i can gaurantee that. so put down the prop bets. but i can say this...this is gonna be one hell of a rivalry season!
