Milwaukee vs. Pittsburgh, 06/08/2014 13:35
Money Line: +103 Milwaukee
There was some discussion about who the Pirates would pitch today with staff ace Gerrit Cole out with shoulder fatigue. Apparently the decision has been made to throw lefty Jeff Locke.
I have one word for this: Fade.
Locke hasn't been the same since the first half of last season when he went 8-2 and was named to the All-Star team. Locke struggled so much during the second half of last season, winning just once during the last two months, he was demoted to the minors. He made one spot start this season and was shelled by the Giants giving up six runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings.
Locke hasn't been able to turn things around at Triple A Indianapolis with a 4.14 ERA and 1.46 WHIP. Locke has a career 5.66 ERA against the Brewers in four starts.
The Brewers feast on southpaws with their right-handed dominated lineup going 10-4 versus lefties.
The line is low because Milwaukee starter, Yovani Gallardo, has been struggling lately. Gallardo, though, has a strong history against the Pirates with an 11-4 record and 2.71 ERA. He's 5-2 with a 1.62 ERA in nine career starts at Pittsburgh.
I have my NBA Play of the Week going today in addition to this free selection. I am 6-2 on my last eight plays in the NBA finals, including an easy winner on the Spurs in Game 1.
