Stephen Nover's Free Wednesday Play

Miami vs. Virginia, 02/26/2014 19:00
Point Spread: +10½/-110 Miami

No team plays better defense than Virginia. The Cavaliers are red-hot, too, winning their last 11 games.

But the Cavaliers are laying too many points against Miami. Virginia has a bigger game on deck Saturday against Syracuse and Miami is a strong road team that is playing well.

The Hurricanes have won three of their last four and are off their most lopsided victory of the season, 69-42, against Boston College this past Saturday at home. Miami's confidence is up as it takes on the ACC-leader.

Virginia holds opponent to a nation-low 55.2 points per game. However, the Cavaliers average less than 66 points a game. Miami averages nearly 62 points a game and ranks ninth-best in the country defensively holding foes to 59.1 points per contest.

So points should be hard to come by, a huge plus for an underdog taking double digits.

Virginia can't help but be thinking of hosting Syracuse in two days. The Cavaliers sit one game ahead of the Orangemen in the ACC standings.

The Hurricanes are getting solid play from senior guard Rion Brown, which is needed when going into a tough road venue. The Hurricanes have covered five of their past six lined road matchups. In their last seven games, the Hurricanes have won four times, suffered a one-point loss, an overtime loss to nationally-ranked Pittsburgh and a seven-point defeat to Virginia Tech.

Miami has won games at North Carolina, Georgia Tech and Florida State while losing on the road by five at Syracuse and by three at Maryland. The Hurricanes have covered in four of their last five games at Virginia.

Vegas pro Stephen Nover is 14-7 on his last 21 paid/free plays and has his CBB Game of the Week going today along with this free selection.
