The total for Super Bowl XLVIII has certainly seen a bit more fluctuation than the spread.

Oddsmakers opened the total 47.5 and most books have seen movement down to 47 and back up to 48 or 48.5 - the number being posted at most shops.

According to one oddsmaker, favorable weather conditions have sharps liking the Over.

"We had sharp money at the under 48.5 early in the week and some sharp money on the over 47 mid week," an oddsmaker from BetDSI tells Covers. "We will be staying at the 48 value and at this time there is about a 2-to-1 ratio of money wagered favoring the Over."

Broncos’ slower pace vs. Seahawks’ organized chaos

Like the bachelor-turned-family man, the Broncos are trading in their sports car for a reliable mini-van. Denver has undergone a dramatic change in pace this postseason, leaving the up-tempo attack behind for a slower, more deliberate offense. That’s panned out as back-to-back Under wins in the playoffs. The Broncos’ three longest drives of the season have come against San Diego and New England, lasting 7:01, 7:50, and 7:52. They’ve dominated time of possession, hanging on to the football for over 35 minutes in both wins.

Seattle will be so jacked up on defense, the worst thing the Broncos can do to the Seahawks is take their time - kind of like that feeling when you and your lady are about to get it on, and she runs to the bathroom “for a second”. Seattle’s anxious stop unit could get lulled to sleep by Peyton Manning’s methodical playcalling, and the longer Seattle’s defense is on the field, the more worn down they’ll get.

According to one sportsbook, bettors are backing the Field Goal at a massive rate to be the first score of the game.

"So far 90 percent of all the action is on the FG, which opened +135 and is now down to +120," says Michael Stewart, an oddsmaker with CarbonSports.ag. "This is a prop that we offer for every NFL game during the season and it's a prop that more times than not we need the TD to come in, and for the Super Bowl it's more of the same. We need the TD to be the first score and we need it big time."
