The Tigers endured a harder than anticipated fought victory against Liberty 80-74 last week. However Princeton had earlier run off 8 straight before a loss to Portland. At 11-2, they are clearly the class of the league and are led by TJ Bray averaging 17.2 ppg. Bray leads the team in fg% at 54% while averaging 6.5 assists. Hans Brase also is one of their main reasons for success scoring about 12 per game along with 6 rebounds. While Princeton still uses the back door find in their halfcourt offense, they are not as patient using more aggression while for the the high percentage shot as noted by their 75 ppg.
Things have only gotten worse for poor Penn who while losing 7 straight is now a dismal 2-10 on the season. The Quakers are coming off a 75-57 loss to LaSalle as Tony Hicks and Fran Daughtery were the only two scorers in double figures. Penn committed 15 turnovers and shot just 38% overall from the floor. Penn has had a tough time stopping opponents all season yielding about 78.5 points and Hciks has been especially sloppy with his ball handling as of late.
Even on the road as a significant favorite Princeton continues it's quest of using their fast start to compete for the Ivy League Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA's. On the flip side, Penn is one of those teams that rarely recovers from slow starts as evident by their subpar mark as we near the halfway point. I like the Tigers to continue their winning was by at least 15 in this spot. GL to those that follow!
