SPOOKY HAPPY NEW YEAR NFL WILDCARD WEEKEND EXPRESS
Spooky Express will never be fired by two cowards and a bigot Weekend thoughts......
-- Looks like Charlie Strong is going to be the next Texas football coach, which is good timing, considering his QB is leaving Louisville, too.
-- Excellent night of college football; too bad the two games were on at the same time. Then again, watching the Clemson game saved me from muting Gus Johnson on FOX.
-- Bill DiBlasio, the new mayor of New York City, looks at least a little bit like Rex Ryan.
-- Chris Paul separated his shoulder, is out 3-5 weeks for the Clippers.
-- Going forward, Alabama is going to see a lot of no-huddle offenses; they'll adjust, because Nick Saban is smart, but they looked shaky in both Auburn, Oklahoma games when the other offense went real fast.
-- Last time the AFC West had three playoff teams was '93, with Chiefs, Broncos and the LA Raiders.
-- It is zero degrees outside in New Jersey I am told; it is 29 days before the Super Bowl; can you imagine if the Super Bowl was in New Jersey this weekend? It would be a debacle, 75,000 people paying huge money to freeze their butts off. Miami-New Orleans-Tampa-Phoenix; there's your Super Bowl rotation. I moved to Florida to get out of the cold but even if the Lions got to the Super Bowl (no jokes please) I would have a hard time justifying sitting outside watching them in the Super Bowl.
Spooky Express and another way to score a touchdown Sunday thoughts
That is one way to score a touchdown!
-- Quite a day for the NFL, with two tremendous playoff games; feel bad for Chief fans, going two decades without a playoff win and then having this happen, blowing a 38-10 lead in the second half. Colts face Denver if the Bengals win Sunday. Andy Reid has never managed the clock well while in Philadelphia and he shows again how he mismanaged the game yesterday. Every first down takes away 4 minutes of a game. Run the ball. That said, we loved every minute of it at the Express since we were on the Over and a small play on the Colts
-- 10 of the last 13 Super Bowl winners won at least one road playoff game that season.
-- Titans fired Mike Munchak; not sure what took them so long, or if he wants the Penn State job, or if Penn State wants him. Not saying Munchak deserved to be fired, but generally those moves are made little more quickly.
-- Knicks lost Friday night after JR Smith jacked a 3 with 0:21 left and score tied; they could've held ball for last shot. He said he thought the Knicks were losing, which explains a lot about JR Smith-- low basketball IQ. For those of you that are aware I coached JR when he was 14 and 15 years old in baseball and my son was on the travel team with him in basketball. Nothing has changed since that time. Just amazing.
-- Jacksonville Jaguars finished 4-12; all four teams they beat fired their coach. Thats a bad season.
