Greg Schiano and GM Mark Dominik fired by Buccaneers
by Will Brinson

The Buccaneers did a solid job recovering from a winless start to the season but it wasn't enough for the Glazer family, as they've fired head coach Greg Schiano and general manager Mark Domink on Monday.

Tampa won just four games, endured a debacle with Josh Freeman before releasing the former first-round pick and were part of a public firestorm for the first half of the season. Tampa finished 4-4 down the stretch but it wasn't good enough for the Glazers.

"The results over the past two years have not lived up to our standards and we believe the time has come to find a new direction," the Glazers said in a statement. "Mark has been a valued member of our organization for two decades and we respect the passion he showed for the Buccaneers during his time here. We thank Greg for his hard work and effort the past two seasons, but we feel these moves are necessary in order to achieve our goals."

Jay Glazer (no relation) of Fox Sports first reported the news.

Schiano was in his second year after being hired away after a lengthy stint at Rutgers. Schiano went 11-21 in two seasons with the Bucs and finished last in the NFC South both seasons while running the Bucs.

He wasn't popular with the fans and rankled others around the NFL with an aggressive approach to certain aspects of the game (such as crashing the victory formation).

Schiano had three years remaining on his contract.

Dominik's firing is a little bit more surprisng, but he was the guy who hired Schiano. He also drafted Freeman and missed on a number of other draft picks, most notably a group of four defensive lineman that's only produced one true impact player (Gerald McCoy).

Didnt think he had much of a shot with that mockery they had at QB , but the 11-21 record in two seasons usually amounts to a change.
