It seems like the wrong team is favored in this game. The Bruins are clearly the better team at 9-1, yet Duke continues to be overvalued by the oddsmakers. UCLA has been hard to stop offensively, and if the Blue Devils are going to win this game it is going to take a better defensive performance than we have seen from them all season. I don't think that scenario is very likely. The Bruins are averaging 90.3 points per game. They are led in scoring by one of the best players in college basketball, Jordan Adams who averages 21.2 points per game.
The Blue Devils defense is soft. This is a neutral court game being played at Madison Square Garden, so Duke will not have the benefit of a true home court game. When playing away from home the Blue Devils have surrendered 76.7 points per game. They have not been forcing turnovers, and they are sending their opponent to the free throw line far too often. UCLA has a great pressure defense. They commit just 10 turnovers per game, while averaging 12 steals per game. It is the Bruins defense that gives them the biggest edge in this matchup.
