Nice start to college football. Let me start by saying that I am not going to count ties on my record….what is the point? Although buying a half point with Wake Forest last night did get me a tie instead of a loss, although Wake was in control the whole game and gave it away and lost in OT. Could have easily started the year 3-0. I mentioned how last year I lost a ton of games by a ½ or 1 point, so I will be buying points on key numbers this year. Bowling Green an easy outright winner and UNLV/Wisconsin had no problem going over the total.
TCU -3 (-125) vs Baylor……….BOUGHT A ½ POINT. At first I really liked Baylor to pull the upset, especially getting 6-6½ points when the lines came out. Friday night ESPN home dog really sounded good. Baylor has plenty more returning starters coming back then TCU including a pretty good QB. After seeing this line drop to 3½ I changed my mind, but I am only playing this for one unit. TCU lost their QB but I don’t think that will hurt as much as people think since they primarily run the ball anyway. They also lost the bulk of their starters on defense, but again that does not concern me as they the past three or four years are always near the top of the ranking defensively. That tells me they recruit well and have solid players waiting in the wings. Baylor will be able to put points on the board this year, no doubt about that. Problem with Baylor is their defense sucked last year and with only 5 starters back this year may be even worse. I look for TCU to run the ball as much as they can and keep Baylor’s QB off the field. This will not be a blow out like last year, and sure Baylor could pull the upset, but I don’t see it happening. Just in case it comes down to a field goal, I bought a ½ point. I push is better than a loss.
Back either late tonight or Saturday morning with the rest of my plays.
I have to agree with you here. TCU always manages to reload. Players buy into the system year in and year out. TCU does have the conference defensive player of the year back and two returning all americans on the d line. I don''t the defense falling to far from last year. The offense will be the question with a new QB, but he is not raw. With so many lopsided wins by half time last year the back up QB got to play.
I don't know alot about Baylor, I know they can score, but I know they let up a ton as well.
I like the thought of TCU running the ball and keeping Baylor off the field.
