Matchup: Cleveland Browns at New England Patriots
Spread: Patriots minus-11.5 (off the board most places)
Public consensus pick: 71 percent picked Patriots
Public perception: This game is off the board at most books. The Don Best odds screen has Brandon Weeden listed as doubtful and Jason Campbell upgraded to probable, but we're still waiting for most books to post a number. The ESPN PickCenter went with Patriots minus-11.5 (which was posted earlier in the week at the BetOnline offshore book) and the public predictably sided with the Patriots, a very public team.
Wiseguys' view: When more lines are available, we'll probably see the sharps land on the double-digit underdog. The Browns have the No. 4 defense in the NFL (306.8 yards allowed per game) and that has kept them in most games. Besides, if Campbell is indeed cleared to go, the veteran has been a capable game manager.
Tuley's Take: The Browns will be tempting if Campbell is a go as double-digit 'dogs are 14-8 ATS (63.6 percent), according to our "Opening Line" column from Monday. However, I wouldn't been quite as confident with Caleb Hanie or Alex Tanney having to go against Bill Belichick and his staff.
The pick: Pass (pool play: Browns).
