Last 8-0 or better team not to be favored was the '85 Bears at Dallas (PK). They won a 44-0 game that wasn't that close.

Matchup: Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Spread: Falcons minus-1
Public consensus pick: 56 percent picked Falcons

Public perception: Neither team has been good to bettors overall this year (Buccaneers 3-6 ATS, Falcons 2-7 ATS, according to NFL ATS standings in our "Opening Line" column). Earlier this season, the Falcons would have been getting more support in this matchup with the line so low. However the Bucs have covered the past two weeks, including Monday night's home upset of the Dolphins, so there's more people willing to back the Bucs.

Wiseguys' view: Vegas bookmakers have said for years that the top game in the Don Best betting rotation gets a disproportionate amount of action, but not even that is helping this game generate much buzz. Some may tease the Bucs over a touchdown, but otherwise this game won't have much effect on the sports books' bottom line one way or another.

Tuley's Take: I've been waiting all year for the Falcons to turn things around, but I'm not going to lay even a point with them here, even though they beat the Bucs 31-23 at home four weeks ago (and I usually like teams that won the first meeting to complete the sweep). I'm also not buying that the Bucs are consistent enough to back.

The pick: Pass (pool play: Falcons).

Bears and Bengals have had extra point attempts blocked, however Minnesota Vikings are only NFL team that outright MISSED one.

Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles (-4.5, 53)

One year after producing two of the NFL’s top offensive rookies in Griffin and running back Alfred Morris, the Redskins have struck gold again with tight end Jordan Reed, who leads all NFL rookies with 44 catches. Morris is having a fine sophomore campaign, as well, with 448 yards and two touchdowns in his last four games. Washington’s punt return unit ranks 30th in the NFL in yards per return (6.1).

Philadelphia quarterback Nick Foles has 10 touchdown passes over the last two games, five of which have gone to Riley Cooper, who has eight catches for 241 yards during that stretch. While the Eagles’ offense continues to generate the headlines, their defense has allowed 21 points or less in six straight games. Philadelphia is tied with Dallas for first place in the NFC East.

LINE: The Eagles opened as low as -3 but have been bet up to -4.5. The total is up from 51 to 53.
WEATHER: There's a 23 percent chance of showers with temperatures in the mid-60s.
COVERS POWER RANKINGS: Washington (+3.5) + Philadelphia (-1.0) + home field (-3.0) = Eagles -7.5
TRENDS:

* Redskins are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games.
* Eagles are 6-15-1 ATS in their last 22 games on grass.
* Road team is 7-2 ATS in the last nine meetings.

NFL BLITZ BIG 5 BETTING PICKS

1) Bears -3

This one is simple to me, with bad weather I am going to take the team I think can run the ball better and to me that is Forte and the Bears
