The week seven schedule in the NFL features two teams that are trying to establish their identities and may use this week to set themselves apart from other teams in the league. The Cincinnati Bengals barley beat the Buffalo Bills after beating down the New England Patriots. The Detroit Lions had a big win on the road against the Cleveland Browns but will now be at home for this big meeting with the Bengals.
Cincinnati Bengals at Detroit Lions Odds
The NFL betting line for this game opened up with the Detroit Lions listed as (-2.5) point favorites. In fact over 70 percent of the early betting public is on the Lions for this game. This might be due to an overreaction to the Bengals game in Buffalo. The Lions are a much better team at home, but the line has not changed. Check for line movement on the point spread leading up to kickoff at your favorite top rated online sportsbooks.
Andy Dalton needs to play well if the Bengals are going to win well. Ending a two-game touchdown drought, Dalton silenced his doubters by going 26 of 40 for 337 yards and three touchdowns. The quarterback on the other side of the field may have found a new favorite target. That target will get attention from the Bengals defense.
Matthew Stafford completed both of his attempts to Joseph Fauria into the end zone Sunday, with the duo now 4-of-6 on the season on such passes. Stafford has completed 3-of-10 end zone attempts to all other Lions, including a Calvin Johnson drop Sunday. If he can play a tough game against the Bengals this Lions offense could even be more explosive than it has been so far.
The NFL betting trends against the spread reveal some great wagering angles leading up to kickoff of this big game.
Cincinnati is 1-3-1 against the spread (ATS) in its last 5 games on the road, but 10-4-1 ATS in its last 15 games. Detroit is 1-7 straight up in its last 8 games when playing Cincinnati and just 2-5 straight up in its last 7 games at home. The total has gone OVER in 4 of Detroit's last 6 games when playing Cincinnati and the total has gone OVER in 5 of Detroit's last 6 games at home. However it should be noted that the total has gone UNDER in 11 of Cincinnati's last 15 game.
