The SEC has long been known as one of the best conferences in all of college football and this year it is maintaining that reputation, however it is a new member of the conference that is making the biggest splash. The Missouri Tigers may be new to the SEC, but the Georgia Bulldogs are well aware of just how good this team is. After the Tigers upset the Bulldogs by beating them badly on the road, they now set their sights on the Florida Gators.
Florida Gators at Missouri Tigers Odds
The college football odds for this game opened up as pick ‘em, which is interesting. The early betting should favor Florida from the wise guys as the Gators have an impressive defense, but look for the public to pound the Tigers. The Tigers are the public darling after beating the Bulldogs and the Gators are off an unimpressive outing against the Gators so they will get overlooked.
Freshman Maty Mauk, who replaced quarterback James Franklin in the fourth quarter, could start when Missouri (6-0, 2-0 Southeastern Conference) plays No. 17 Florida this upcoming weekend. Missouri led by 18 points in the first half before Georgia (4-2, 3-1) cut the lead to 28-26 in the fourth quarter.
The Tigers answered the challenge with two late touchdowns, despite losing Franklin.
Missouri's first road win over a top 10 team since 1981 helped continue the Tigers' recovery from a 5-7 finish in 2012, their first in season in the SEC. The Tigers have scored 38 or more points in each of their six wins, including last week's 51-28 win at Vanderbilt.
Now they will get a true test against a much tougher defense and it will be interesting to see how the Tigers respond.
The latest college football trends for this SEC clash reveal some interesting betting angles leading up to kickoff. The total has gone over in 7 of Missouri's last 9 games but the total has gone under in 5 of Florida's last 6 games. Florida is 16-4 straight up in its last 20 games despite losing to LSU but Missouri is 4-1 straight up in its last 5 games at home. Florida is 6-3 straight up in its last 9 games on the road but struggle cashing in as they are just 3-9 against the spread (ATS) in its last 12 games.
