The magical season of Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos continues when they head to Dallas to take on the much maligned Cowboys. Manning has looked unstoppable in every game as he has already amassed 16 touchdown tosses and not one interception. The Cowboys are headed in the other direction and have had trouble stopping opposing defense from scoring which could be bad news for the Cowboys this week.
Denver Broncos at Dallas Cowboys Odds
The NFL betting line for this game opened up with the Broncos as (-7) favorites in this contest. That number seems low with as badly as the Broncos have been beating up their opponents. The public realizes this and they are all over the Broncos in this game with as much as 76 percent of the public betting on the road team. The line can be found at (-7) at most of the top rated sportsbooks found here at bang the Book.com, but monitor them closely as that could change as kickoff approaches.
Stopping Manning is never easy but it could be even tougher this week for the Cowboys. The Broncos quarterback will face a Dallas defense coordinated by Monte Kiffin, who popularized the Tampa-2 scheme with Manning's former coach Tony Dungy. Manning practiced against it for seven years. The Cowboys defense will have to improve and they will have to do it quickly.
The Cowboys will have to patch some holes to avoid Manning picking them apart on their home turf. Their defense ranks 27th against the pass, allowing an average of 304.5 yards per game, and surrendered a total of 506 yards in Sunday's loss at San Diego. Though the New York Giants are winless, Eli Manning threw for 450 yards and four touchdowns against the Cowboys in a season opener. The Cowboys offense is good enough to put up points, but if the defense does not show up it will be a long day in Dallas.
The latest NFL betting trends for this game are in favor of the Broncos. The Broncos are 6-1-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 8 games following a win, 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a win of more than 14 points and 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
The Cowboys are 6-13 ATS in their last 19 games in October, 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games in Week 5 and 8-21 ATS in their last 29 games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game.
