The second week of the NFL schedule will showcase the skills of talented young quarterback Andrew Luck as he leads his Indianapolis Colts on to the field to take on the Miami Dolphins. Both of these squads won in the first week and will attempt to start the season 2-0, but it won’t be easy.
Miami Dolphins at Indianapolis Colts Odds
The NFL betting odds for this game opened up with the Colts listed as pick ‘em and that number is quickly on the move as the betting public is buying into the Colts although they barely escaped a game with a victory against the Oakland Raiders. The line can now be found as (-3) in favor of the Colts in many of the top rated online sportsbooks. This line could easily leap the key number as the sports consensus sites show that 73 percent of the early football bettors are backing the Colts.
It may have been an ugly win against the Cleveland Browns but the Dolphins got the win. They managed to get the win basically because the Browns made mistake after mistake. Browns quarterback Brandon Weedden threw three interceptions that cost the team. Although the Dolphins got the victory they still need to work on plenty areas.
Their running game was stuffed against the Browns and although they put up 23 points on offense, one player on the team was not happy. Newly acquired wide out Mike Wallace made it very clear to the media that he was not thrilled with the way that he was used after the game.
Andrew Luck made sure that his team was not going to lose in week one. The Raiders put up a huge underdog effort as they almost won outright although they were double digit dogs coming into this game. This showed some huge flaws in this Colts team most notably on defense. If they don’t improve, Luck will have to carry this team for the rest of the season.
The football betting trends reveal some interesting angles leading up to kickoff. Indianapolis is 1-6 against the spread (ATS) in its last 7 games when playing at home against Miami and 5-0 straight up in the last five games at home. The total has gone over in 5 of Indianapolis's last 7 games when playing Miami and the total has gone under in 11 of Miami's last 13 games so something has to give when these teams meet this weekend.
