Some Tuesday MLB Helpful Information

Freddy Wills

Tuesday's card does not provide many pitchers who have ERA's under 3.00 over their last three starts or pitchers who are considered cold with ERA's above 6.00 over their last three starts, but we did find value on one of our starters as Bartolo Colon will face off against the Yankees.

Oakland Athletics -107 (1.5* FREE PLAY)
Bartolo Colon may soon be suspended, but while he is still pitching he has caught my eye as he has posted a 1.04 WHIP and a 0.39 ERA over his last three starts over 23 innings. It's strange because he's throwing strike, but all he is doing is throwing straight fastballs 85% of the time. Normally that would get you in trouble against a team like the Yankees, but not this year as the Yankees are ranked #21 vs. the fastball compared to ranking #1 last year. Colon struggled against Granderson, Jeter, and Arod big time who all had over 1.000 OPS against him so it should help him facing this version of the Yankees who are 0-4 in their last 4 trips to Oakland.

Oakland is a different team than the past and they just continue to win at home, 38-16 in their last 54 hoe games while the Yankees will turn to C.C. Sabathia who has a 4.88 ERA on the road. He's got good numbers vs. the A's, but this is a different team ranked 5th in OPS vs. LHP and scoring over 5.5 runs per game vs. LHP. The A's are also 27-13 during night games this year while Colon has a 2.36 ERA during night starts.

Notable Hot Starters:
Derek Holland (2-1, 19.2 IP, 1.42 WHIP, 1.37 ERA)
Max Scherzer (2-1, 21 IP, 0.81 WHIP, 2.14 ERA)
Bud Norris (1-2, 17.1 IP, 1.15 WHIP, 3.63 ERA)

Notable Cold Starters:
Kevin Slowey (1-2, 14.2 IP, 1.50 WHIP, 6.75 ERA)
Ian Kennedy (1-2, 17 IP, 1.53 WHIP, 9.00 ERA)

Jim Feist Comp

Take: (977) HOUSTON ASTROS.

Houston has its best pitcher going in Bud Norris (5-5, 3.43 ERA) who has a 2.25 ERA his last three starts. Norris tossed his fourth quality start in a row Thursday against the Orioles. He held Baltimore to just three runs in seven innings of work, while walking one batter and striking out seven. He faces a bad Seattle offense that is 24th in runs scored and 23rd in on base percentage. Seattle righty Aaron Harang (2-6, 6.70 ERA) is washed up allowing 55 hits and 10 homers in 45+ innings. Slumping Seattle is on a 7-15 run and the Astros are 9-2 in the last 11 meetings, including 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Seattle. Play the Astros.

Hondo

Tampa Bay Rays

"Hondo’s crushing 14-inning setback with the Rays last night was more than offset by the D’backs’ heroic rally in LA, which left him with a debt of 260 cronins.
Tonight, he will remain focused like a laser on the Rays – 10 units on Hernandez to win his duel Jonny Lager and the Sawx."

ROB VINCILETTI

On Tuesday the free MLB System Play is on the Detroit Tigers. Game 971 at 8;10 eastern. The Tigers are too a heavy a favorite to Unit rate. However for a free play they apply to a solid Power System that has Cashed 16 of the last 19 times which plays on certain road favorites off a 1 run road favored loss if they scored 2 or less runs and taking on an opponent off a 1 run home dog win that scored 4 or less runs on 5+ hits. KC Won last night 3-2 as a nice home dog to set this play up. Hover the Royals are just 1-11 as a home dog in this range and this could be the spot where their 6 game win streak gets snapped. Detroit has won 6 of 7 on Tuesday and 17 of 23 as a road favorite in this range. In games where the total is 8 to 8.5 Detroit has won 20 of 28 games. Tonight they have Max Scherzer on the mound and his road era is nearly 4 runs better at 1.66 then his counter part Wade Davis has at home with a 5.34 era. Take the Tigers tonight.

JEFFREY BRANDES
Free play

ST. LOUIS CARDINALS at NEW YORK METS

Pitchers:
ST. LOUIS CARDINALS: MICHAEL WACHA (R) ERA: 5.40 W/L: 0-0
NEW YORK METS: JEREMY HEFNER (R) ERA: 4.14 W/L: 1-5

In his second career start last out, the Cardinals' MICHAEL WACHA gave up six earned runs on 10 hits and one walk and also gave up a home run.

For the Mets, JEREMY HEFNER faced the Cardinals on May 13 and received a no-decision after pitching six innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits while striking out two and walking four. It was his only career appearance against St. Louis.

New York Mets's relievers have pitched 18⅓ innings in the last 3 games and figure to be weary (if not inefficient) when called upon in this game. The Cardinals' relievers have also seen plenty of action having pitched 8 2/3 innings in the last 3 games.

Key Trends:
The total has gone OVER in 6 of St. Louis's last 7 games
The total has gone OVER in 5 of St. Louis's last 7 games on the road
The total has gone OVER in 4 of NY Mets's last 6 games

Remember, the trend is your friend:

RECOMMENDATION: OVER (7.5 ov-110)
