Grant Hill joined the NBA on TNT pregame show live before Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals on Saturday and had a surprise announcement. Hill announced his retirement from the NBA after 19 seasons. The Clippers released a statement regarding the announcement, which is funny because Hill was a Clipper for about 45 seconds.Hill, a seven-time All-Star, finishes with career averages of 16.7 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists. Hill was the 1995 Rookie of the Year, and a five-time All-NBA selection (one first-team).
Hill had hinted repeatedly since midseason that he was considering retirement, but his retirement still stands as a loss for the league. Hill is known as one of the best ambassadors of the game, enjoying a late-career revival on the Phoenix Suns with their training staff helping to ease the health issues that kept Hill from fulfilling his legacy as potentially one of the best players of his generation.
